Saddle Peak Lodge in Monte Nido offers a unique old-school SoCal experience away from the beach. The bar menu is great, with a standout drink called the black Manhattan. The staff provide excellent service. It's a hidden gem location perfect for events like wedding rehearsals. The drinks are magnificent, and the food is unforgettable. While the price tag may not be cheap, the cozy atmosphere, great music, and generous corkage policy make it worth it. It's a charming place for family dinners or special occasions. The Johnnycakes, potato puff, duck pastrami, strawberry/blueberry gem salad, and lamb are highly recommended. Expect to spend a bit but get a lot in return. The setting and whole experience added up to a wonderful evening. The hospitality received all day from the staff, whether that was with the room set up, dinner service, or bartending, was very good-natured and accommodating. The salad and 72-hour rib steak were tasty and good quality. The quartet was such a hit, including bison shortrib, ostrich steak, elk filet, and quail, each paired with a side dish that matched it perfectly. The bartender crafted a smoky yet deliciously sweet work of art.
