The Mulholland in Calabasas is a hidden gem that has brought a new level of dining to Old Town Calabasas, which has not had a great restaurant for many years. The restaurant is located in a long-vacant building and is a wonderful addition to the area. It features beautiful, modern yet comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, along with a large bar area. The venue is relatively small and often busy, so reservations are recommended. The ambiance is first-rate, making it a perfect spot for a somewhat casual yet classy dining experience. Highlights include the Caesar salad with fresh potato crisps, tempura mushrooms, and Himachi Crudo with Yuzu Koshu. The food is highly creative in plating and presentation, with top-notch ingredients and preparations. Notable dishes include the Seared Scallops, Striped Bass, and Petaluma Chicken, which was described as outstanding—moist, succulent, and served with delicious potatoes. The Ora Salmon is cooked to perfection and offered in a generous portion. The chef's creations, from scallops to chocolate cake, are all delicious and worth savoring. The wine list is enormous, with many options by the glass, including selections from a nearby vineyard. The full bar offers excellent specialty drinks like the Espresso Martini and Pink Skies. Service is friendly, polite, and attentive, earning high praise. The late-night menu on Fridays and Saturdays features small bites and a DJ spinning tunes, adding to the lively atmosphere. The beautiful ambience can be enjoyed on the back patio, especially on chilly evenings warmed by a large fireplace and heaters. The Mulholland is a memorable dining destination that beckons for a return visit.
