Mexican place run by Mexicans. Very welcoming and friendly staff. I was there for a dinner on a business trip. Wide choice of Mexican dishes and drinks.

Although the restaurant was pretty empty I thought it was good. They were out of a few things like the albondigas soup. The chips and salsa were good. I heard they use to not serve those. I got a shrimp empanada as an appetizer and I liked it. The enchilada plate was good. The bartender was attentive and refilled my coke a couple of times. The ambience could be good if busier because the interior is really nice. The food was good solid Mexican food and who can't root for a restaurant named for an endangered amphibian. I hope more people come because it was good and I think with time it will get even better.

so my boyfriend and I went the Saturday before Valentine's Day (2/10) and we were worried because we saw really mixed reviews but we decided to go anyways to try it out. The restaurant is gorgeous it's nicely remodeled and colorful-the lighting and decor is unique. I'm mexican so I really appreciate the theme of the restaurant and the effort put into it. Second is the food!! It was sooo good, we got the chicken empanadas which were bomb just as we anticipated. And since it's an appetizer it's cheaper (about $10 I believe) which is perfect because I don't eat the massive portions that you usually get at mexican restaurants so the 3 empanadas were perfect for me. We also got the aguachiles which we devoured we didn't even get a picture of them lol. probably the best I've had in my life if not second best but they're not so spicy that you can't finish them! My boyfriend got the chile relleno it was good as well and it came with rice and beans. He couldn't finish it so I'd say the portions are good. It isn't cheap but you're paying the price of eating at an upscale mexican restaurant experience that I think the money is worth it plus it's Camarillo everything here is in the same price range so it's really not that different. Our server was so sweet and helpful the drinks were really good too so shoutout to the bartender. I never write reviews I created a yelp account just to come on here and leave a review to clear up the bad ones, maybe they had different servers or chefs those days but we came on a good one. It was dead in there for NO reason cause this is the place to be their DJ was good asf and it's like a club-ish vibe in there this is definitely the place to be for a birthday or special occasion or even a night out especially to pre-game. I really wish and hope this place starts to get more business because they really deserve it compared to all the other places in Camarillo like Slate, Wood Ranch, Lure etc. their food is good don't get me wrong but this place is an experience. I'm definitely coming here again and hopefully it's consistent with this experience so when I do I'll follow up on my review :)

First visit to this restaurant was a very pleasant experience. It features a very lively black & white lite bar with stylized Mexican icons such as skull heads, decorative hearts and bones. Very unique and adds charm and humor to the ambiance. Good sized seating area with comfortable booths and also different sized tables to accommodate a variety of groups of customers. The food was delicious and we were impressed by the attention to presentation of the various dishes we ordered. The appetizer of 3 small beef empanadas were crisp and were presented with a drizzle of cream, picked onions and cilantro with a small dish of a mild, tasty salsa. The chicken enchiladas with red chile sauce were plated separately , three of them, staggered elegantly on the diagonal with plenty of the delicious sauce smothering them topped with jack cheese. One of the best enchilada sauces we've had in Camarillo. The mojarra frita was deep fried to perfection, crispy but not overly so the flesh of the fish was still moist. We devoured it! Our waiter, Luis, was very friendly and helpful describing menu items, offering good suggestions. He was attentive and very professional. The final surprise was left for last. Their bathrooms are stunning! All glass stalls, bright lights, well stocked toilet stalls and paper towels in boxes sitting on lovely sinks. I was so impressed I told my companion that he needed to go check them out! He was similarly impressed & surprised. A lot of imagination and taste was used to create this space. It deserves to be enjoyed by every Mexican food lover in Camarillo. We are adding it to our rotation of Mexican restaurants for sure!!

Cool vibe inside the restaurant but the food was just too basic for me. The menu at the restaurant was not the menu posted on their website. I had the Enchilada Azteca plate and it was basically shredded chicken in a flour tortilla with cheese and a bland tomato soup tasting sauce on top with beans and rice. I was honestly pretty disappointed. The drinks were good though.

Love this spot!! Love that it's in Camarillo. The DJ brings a great vibe and the drinks are so good. Come enjoy the music! It's fun! My husband got the Carne asada and said it was delicious. I got the empenadas, they were delicious too. We will definitely go again!

I would rate this a - 5. They claim to have live music. It was loud music through the speakers. The one star is for the nervous and over worked waitress. We walked in and stood for 10 minutes before being greeted. The restaurant had three tables with customers. There were two waitresses and one cook/bartender. Appeared to be a total of three employees. We weren't in a rush, so we were tolerant We hoped the food would make up for the long wait to be seated and order to be taken as well as served. The three employees were scrambling through out the kitchen and restaurant. After we were seated it took 31 min. before our order was taken. We weren't given drink menus so I pulled it up from their website. The waitress said, the bartender and servers called out sick. There's no one to make the drinks. She said she would ask the cook to make them and would let us know. Thankfully , we did get the drinks, meh tasting. I ordered SHRIMP and my hubby x-CHICKEN fajitas. 30 min later my husband got a few strips of BEEF, I got CHICKEN mainly bell peppers fajitas. A different waitress dropped them off. I told her that's not what I ordered. I told her, we will eat it since we were hungry & didn't want to wait. We didn't get tortillas. We took a few bites. It was greasy. 12 min later the cook comes out and asked if we need anything else. We mentioned we didn't get tortillas or checked on for drinks. The food was not good. I really wanted to like this restaurant. We were patient and kind to the employees, we felt bad for them. They were doing their best with the little to no training/help they received. It has potential. It's in dire need of good management. It was understaffed, untrained staff, and food/drinks were below mediocre. I feel sorry for the young waitress. She was very apologetic for getting the order wrong and for the long wait. She agreed the service was bad.

First, the menu you see online (here and on their own website) is not the one offered at the actual restaurant. The waiter, when he bothered to show up, explained that the chef recently quit and took his recipes with him. The new menu is much smaller, but still pricey. Second, the food tastes somewhere between bland and bad. The waiters got several things wrong (such as putting alcohol in a request for a non-alcoholic drink, not bringing plates when requested, bringing the appetizer at the same exact time of one of the main courses. The other main course then didn't arrive until much later. It's a mess. With disco lights for some reason.

My hubby and I were so hopeful that this restaurant was going to be good with a perfect four star rating. To our dismay, our meals were no where near what any traditional Mexican food will taste like. I ordered Albondigas soap and my hubby ordered tacos. Let me break it down what each of our dishes contained and the cost. 1. Albondigas soap - $15 (see BEFORE pic) Ingredients: thick tomato base soap (no actual tomatoes in it) with 3 meatballs!! What I would have expected: Avocado, tomato, corn, onion, cilantro I ordered a side of avocado - $4 freakin dollars!! It wasn't even half of an avocado!! I kid you not, a finger size slice!! Note: took the remaining 2 meatballs (small size) and a large amount of tomato base soap home so that my hubby can add more ingredients!! (see AFTER pic) 2. Tacos - $18 Ingredients: crispy taco shell, shredded chicken with no seasoning, sprinkles of lettuce, cotija cheese, and sour cream!! What we would have expected - dice tomatoes, slices of lime, cilantro, side of beans and rice. Note: my hubby had to add a lot of hot sauce to give it some flavor. Our total bill $39.68!!! We were so outraged by the bill because our meals literally taste like we got it at a fast food joint. It didn't even fill our hungry bellies. We didn't even get a refill on our water. We came to the conclusion why the owners have to cheap out on the food. It is because they spent so much money on the ambiance of the restaurant (lights, DJ, fake greenery, the fancy bar, etc). The time we were there was in the evening. One couple sat in front of us. Another behind us, and two women at the bar for a place that can hold 200 plus. They should refocus their efforts on making their food delicious, with sides, and better portions (I spent $15 for 3 small meatballs in thick tomato base soap!!). We are confused how this place got 4 stars but realized that some of the pics posted by other customers complained about the food and their prices too. We will give them 4 stars for how beautiful the restaurant looks inside. We are hopeful that the owners will make some changes and when they do then we will return. For now, there are better authentic traditional Mexican restaurants in our area with better pricing, flavor, and portions that will fill up your hungry bellies .

This place is depressing! The decor is nice but it's lonely. The food is expensive and bland. The servers are nice but so slow. I will not be going back.

I got the chicken tacos hard shell and weren't the best option if you're trying to stay cute and clean lol food isn't authentic mexican food but it's not bad, a little expensive but dranks are good. Restaurant super empty and staff was really nice. The place looks great inside definitely recommend coming for happy hour.

SO disappointed that the food and service aren't as awesome as the atmosphere!Chips, salsa, guac are good. That was the only thing that tasted good :( and if it weren't for the terrible service, I'd consider coming back just for chips and salsa. In our group of five, no one's food tasted good and everyone's good, including the soup, arrived tepid at best. The fajitas and chicken soup barely had any meat, the tostada salad was just lettuce, tomatoes, onionsOur waiter never looked up at us, didn't check on us, didn't ask if everything was okay (it wasn't), and when we were able to grab him as he zipped by, he didn't stop to let us finish asking for the things we needed (more chips, a wrong order, warm food)As others have mentioned, it wasn't busy so it's not that he was juggling tables and orders. So disappointed ? the place looks SO cool, I really wanted this to be a great place.

Garbage. Hot garbage. I ordered the enchiladas, tasted so bland that salt could not save it. Food was warm. Rice and beans that came with meal tasted like something out of a can. Waiter continuously forgot food and items. Music is so loud the waiter couldn’t hear me, got the order wrong. Place says traditional Mexican food, place tries too hard to make you feel like it’s Mexican food when really the menu is small, I do not feel like I’m in a warm Mexican home or the likes. Maybe I’m pampered by my Mexican mother in law whose food is a million times better. You’ll have better food at Yolanda’s or at Limon y Sal. Do not come here if you want to eat Mexican food. Place is…trash.

Don't come to this restaurant. The server we had was really rude to us. My bf ordered bbq wings and the waiter brought us Buffalo wings instead and when we told him he got really upset and walked away. When he bought us the bbq wings he literally threw them at us. Worst service ever!
