Never went back to this restaurant after the crazy owner followed us to the parking lot demanding we pay, minutes after we settled the check with the waitress and left a generous tip. The man was totally unprofessional, confused, and out of line. When we walked back to speak to the waitress about this, there were zero apologies given. Lesson to be learned: be absolutely sure someone did something wrong before you accuse them of wrongdoing. There are plenty of other places to get sushi all over the county without being insulted. Why go here? No need to reward an incompetent owner with your business.

This restaurant is really good! They offer tables where they cook the food fresh in front of you on the grill. Watching the chefs is very entertaining, it's a great place to bring someone for a birthday dinner.

Yama Japanese Restaurant was great. First time there with the family. We'll be going back to eat there again. Highly recommend.

We ate on the restaurant side (as opposed to the teppan side or sushi bar). The Volcano Roll (scallops surrounded by salmon) was very good, as was the combo (wild caught salmon and panko-battered veggie tempura). Both were cooked perfectly. Servers were friendly and attentive.

Like everything but the soup. I like another place in Thousand Oaks better.

This is our go to place when we have a night without the kiddos. A little expensive but we'll worth it to us. I like how they seat you with other customers, it makes the experience always a little different. Great food and good customer service.
