Papa Gianni’s in Folsom is an absolute gem for anyone who appreciates authentic Italian cuisine. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
The meal began with their garlic bread, which was simply divine. Each bite was perfectly toasted, with just the right amount of garlic and butter—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It’s a must-try for any garlic lover.
We followed that with the garlic oil & pasta, and the flavors were impeccable. The pasta was cooked to perfection, with the garlic oil adding a delightful richness that brought everything together.
The linguine with clams was equally impressive, featuring fresh clams and a sauce that was light yet bursting with flavor. Every mouthful was a testament to the skill and dedication of the kitchen.
To finish, we indulged in their cannoli, which was the perfect sweet ending. The crispy shell filled with creamy ricotta was a heavenly combination that left us wanting more.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience here and will not be returning. For the price, the food was mediocre at best. The seasonings and taste were just average. It's getting more and more common that we spend $200 on a meal and what we make at home tastes much better. Thank goodness we don't eat out often.
Maybe it's policy or reservations but my family of five was seated at a small table while parties of two arriving later were seated at their large booths. Yes, we could have asked for one but I like to judge the book and the cover.
The calamari came rubbery but the breading had a good flavor. The bread was good but that's just free filler. Their meat sauce was nothing special. The service was good at first, then a bit slow but they were busy.
To top it off, when we left, we passed the owner/manager with no word, no thanks or anything. I gave him a 'you're welcome' as a reminder he should thank his customers.
They won't miss us and it doesn't matter as it appears plenty of people love to eat here. I really don't get it and the last thing I am is a food snob. Oh well, live and learn.

We love Papa Gianni's. It is a hidden gem. The food is perfect and the service outstanding. It's not pretentious here, but feels like home. Prices are very reasonable. It is a family favorite.

We have been going to Papa Gianni's for close to 30 years. When our adult children were young, this was our go-to birthday venue. The meal we ate here a few days ago is exactly the same exceptional quality as every other meal we have we have enjoyed over the decades. The consistency of this place is amazing. Great food and excellent, friendly service. Simply fantastic!
