Based on the reviews, Chilenazo Deli & Bakery is a gem of a restaurant offering authentic Chilean dishes. The owner and staff are outstanding, and the hostess is very gracious. The best empanadas in Los Angeles can be found here, including beef empanadas, shrimp and cheese, and chicken empanadas, all tasting as good as home made. Other popular meals include the Barros Luco (beef and cheese and fish and chips, both generously served with fries), the chacarero sandwich, and the churrasco with fries. A standout starter is the Palta Raina, a whole avocado cut in half and filled with Chicken salad. For those wanting something different, the Lomo Saltado, a Peruvian dish with steak, red onions, tomatoes, and peppers over fries with rice, has meat that melts in the mouth. The "cazuela," a Chilean beef soup, is also delicious. Desserts include "pastel de mil ohas," a Chilean pastry. The Maracuya Nectar juice is divine. While the menu is limited and some plates might not be listed, good empanadas are always available. Parking can be a bit chaotic, but a spot can usually be found. The only downside is the restaurant is too small to fit a large family.
