Avenue cafe was a gem of a find with a breakfast craving and the fully came thru for a group of four people they had something for everyone. They server has Sandy and she was amazing with the best recommendations that did not disappoint. From the carnitas egg Benedict, country fried steak and traditional steak. Everything was awesome!

Was told to call Antonio to set up large order for my hotel guests. I called and he was very rude to me, then hung up. I would steer clear of this restaurant. Does not look good for the organization I represent.

We always walk by here when going to Capitola downtown and this cafe always has a long line. This time on a Saturday noon time, the place was actually not busy , so we decided to try it. We both ordered the NY steak and eggs special. Mine with over easy eggs and my boyfriend's with scrambled eggs. We had high hopes but the meat quality was very poor. We couldn't eat it at all. The steak was nicely grilled but the meat was so chewy and tough! There was no seasoning whatsoever, not even a bit of salt to enhance the flavor. My boyfriend said it was not consumable for humans. Hash brown was very good and crispy. Eggs were cooked to perfection . Service also didn't have a clue that we didn't touch the steak and didn't ask why. Don't understand why this place gets such great reviews! Must have had all the negative ones removed.

Our 1st visit this morning, Great place, friendly staff and the extra bonus: the ham in the ham cheez omelette was grilled before it was put in the omellette, Never had a better one !

I've never been disappointed with any aspect of the Avenue Cafe. The food is terrific. It's always fresh. Their Chicken Fried Steak is a work of art, and even better if you order a side salad with Balsamic dressing. The gravy on the steak has a sublime unique taste and texture. Also, the Eggs Benedict are the best I've had in Santa Cruz. Don't let appearances fool you. It might look a bit funky, but the staff are friendly and courteous. Give it a try - I guarantee you'll come back for more.
Excellent food and service, the cafe is adorable and quite quaint. Staff was very attentive and just a few minutes away from the beach.

Good service - we ordered the Capitola Craze ( omelette ) and it was good. I like that there's free street parking as well. Place is small and cute. Will def come back
