Food was good.
Always delicious. The removal of grass roofing, hanging birds and surfing videos was disappointing. It doesnt look modern, it looks boring. But the food is still superb.

Islands Restaurant Carlsbad offers polite service and great food, including the popular Kilauea burger and delicious burgers with excellent flavor and variety of presentations. The restaurant has a good sports bar-type atmosphere. The carne asada tacos are quite good, and the teriyaki burger is big, tasty, and filling. This outlet of this Polynesian-themed chain restaurant is above-average. The location is good, and it's clean, with comfortable booths and a colorful, classic chain decor. The service is friendly, and the hamburgers are juicy and well-portioned. The fried fish tacos are served with corn tortillas and lots of cabbage and pico de gallo. The quality of the food and service runs consistently through this restaurant. The decor and the coastal vibe are very comfortable. The lunch special is about $12 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. They give a lot of fries, whether regular or sweet potato fries. The sandwiches are really good. It's nice to have hot fries with your burger.
