Il Fornaio Carmel

Terrible server. Nice guy but poorly trained. Forget our soup and wine orders. Brought bread to table when we had almost complete eaten our entrees. After nearly a month in Carmel we finally have a dinner we regret booking!

We eat at Il Fornaio in Carmel often. The food is great, seasonal menus as well as the more permanent menu, lots of choices, the service is excellent, and the space is really nice. We usually eat outside on the patio if the weather is nice.

Everything was absolutely wonderful from the staff to the food to the atmosphere. Great experience.

The wine dinner was great! All the courses were paired great with the Caymus wines. The room had a great view of the ocean during sunset. Truly spectacular.

It was our anniversary. The hostess was pleasant. Our waiter was always in a hurry. Didn't offer us bread. Was slower than the other tables. He said happy birthday instead of happy anniversary. He answered a call in the middle of our order. He was inattentive. Rushed us through dessert. Food was good though.

The main entrees were terrific. The veal and steak were perfectly cooked and the pasta dishes were great . The Caprese salad was lacking. The sparse mozzarella, two basil leaves and almost no oil/balsamic. Don't waste your money. The service was not attentive. Our drink orders were slow and our appetizer plates were not cleared prior to our entrees so we were holding our plates for the server to put down our main dishes. I would go back just for the entrees.

Originally, I reserved an outdoor table as I was bringing my dogs with me, but the outdoor space was very dismal and not very inviting, so input my dogs in the car, and opted for a table inside. The food was good, but not exceptional. Service was excellent!

Delicious italian cuisine, beautiful venue, super services, Carlos was the best, a gem in Carmel be the Sea. One if favorite dining destination! Mille grazie!

Loved our evening at Il Fornaio! Our server was wonderful and all her recommendations were perfect! Such a lovely spot!

Excellent food and service. Four of us shared bruschetta for an appetizer. Three toppings on the grilled ciabatta: eggplant caponata, roasted cherry tomatoes, and pesto & burrata. All tasty. All entrees were delicious: branzino, lobster ravioli, tagliatelle bolognese, and seafood linguine. Would highly recommend Il Fornaio!

Excellent service!!! Food and atmosphere was great, great spot to watch the sunset from patio.

Good service and food. Dessert was especially yummy. Nice menu choices. Would have been nice if our host acknowledged our birthday celebration in some way.

We are never disappointed with this restaurant and it has led us to other Il Fornaio locations. Waiter Garrett was terrific.

Experience was amazing, but the service of the server was mild. Was not smiling, not welcoming, very fast paced where he wanted us to be in and out. Never talked about specials if there was any. Just very unwelcoming and unfriendly. But overall it was good. 7/10.
