Such an intimate tucked away area that had charm and a beyond fantastic Merlot. I wish everyone was like this owner and aged his wines extensively but release to the public at a reasonable price. Def took a couple bottles home. Thank you!
Janice was wonderful and treated us so well! Highly recommend, such a lovely atmosphere. Wine was DELICIOUS!

Janice and Barb are friendly and knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations and engaging guests in enjoyable conversations. While they offer only one white wine, their unique selection of red wines, including blends, is exceptional and not found elsewhere in Carmel. Visitors often find the staff sweet, hospitable, and eager to make the experience memorable. The tasting room provides a relaxing and fun environment, where guests can enjoy wines, sometimes with added surprises like birthday cake. Overall, Shale Canyon Wines is a low-key, friendly spot perfect for those looking for a break from pinot noirs and wanting to create lasting memories while enjoying Carmel’s wine scene.
