I stopped in Shale Canyon for the first time today and had a lovely experience. I have been wine tasting in Carmel numerous times, but I had never been to this room. They had a unique selection of red wines (including some blends) you won't find anywhere else in Carmel. They had no pinot noirs, which was great for me because I'm not a pinot fan, and only 1 white wine (chardonnay). Shale Canyon is AMAZING. Pure delight - the ambiance, the wines, everything was on point. But hold on to your glasses because Manager Janice took it to a whole new level! Her passion for wine, infectious enthusiasm, personable personality, and incredible hospitality made our tasting experience the most unforgettable. Janice was so fun to hang out with. We came in from the rain and had a blast. It's a small tasting room but full of stories and ambiance. Think Cheers, but with wine. Loved it. Their cab franc and consortium wine are my recommendations.
