Finally decided to try Toro and I have to say it was disappointing. The shortts crunch was the worst sushi roll I think I’ve ever had. Our group overalls was deeply disappointed with the quality of the rolls. They were not well made, falling apart, and lacking flavor. While the server & staff members were nice our server was not attentive. Overall for 3 rolls, an app, and 3 non-alcoholic beverages for $100 it just did not feel worth it.

We went during car week. Just figured we'd stroll by and have lunch while we check out a few cars. Food was great, service wasn't though. Slow and it didnt even seem like they were packed.

Fresh and tasty at sushi at Toro Sushi in Carmel-by-the-sea! Large variety of fish to choose from, we really enjoyed our uni shooters, the toro and salmon lover hand rolls, the Carmel, Maine squeeze, and piggly wiggly specialty rolls, the hamachi carpaccio, and salmon tartar crispy rice. Nice dog friendly outdoor seating and warm staff. Recommend!

We went around 7pm and the sushi we got was very good. Spicy tuna roll and California roll for me. My wife got the California roll and mushroom roll.

Really good chicken katsu and teriyaki. One of the best miso soups I have ever had. Also really good california rolls. Environment was nice but a bit chilly outside, could have turned on the heaters in my opinion, but maybe they only do it if you ask. Overall a really good restaurant. Would go again.

This place had really great food! My family and I are vegetarian, and we were so happy to find so many delicious options on the menu. We had the sushi, which was excellent. Karle served us, and she was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our visit. The restaurant itself is beautiful—I absolutely loved the decorations. Overall, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend coming here!

it genuinely was one of the worst sushi spots i’ve went to due to customer service. Customer service was genuinely horrible as me and my friends waited about an hour for our food. No asking if any of us needed refills. We went yesterday around 2ish, and it was not busy at all! It was clear they were more focused on other customers than others, as customers who came in after us received their food before us. The food was just okay, mid compared to its price. wasted our time!

I don’t like leaving bad reviews unless it is absolutely warranted…..we arrived at 2pm and the restaurant was not packed….we sat down at 2:20 and ordered a bottle of wine and sashimi along with 2 rolls….sashimi came at 2:50, still no wine
Our waters weren’t refilled and we were sitting in the sun….after asking for an update on the wine, we were told the fridge was broke (ok) and they would bring out another bottle of a similar grape (they didn’t know what kind of wine we ordered when they said they would bring another bottle)….then they came out with two empty wine glasses and we finally just said skip the bottle, let’s just order by the glass….which should have been offered 15 mins into the wait…(38 mins for a glass of wine) - the waitress didn’t seem to understand the concept of waiting tables (and I used to be a waiter)
We literally had to ask for water refills (30 mins into being seated at a place that was NOT crowded) - when I asked for a water refill, it eventually came (10 mins later)
The Maine Squeeze was very tasty, the toro and salmon sashimi were underwhelming for being close to the ocean, overall the food was not with the terrible dinning experience.
I always tip exceptionally well….but I had to leave zero after what was an awful experience.
