Toro is an awesome spot!! Welcoming & chill vibe, friendly & attentive service (Thank You James & team), fantastic wine list, and a delicious menu. Our favorite bites are their Geisha Roll, and their Piggly Wiggly Roll. We recommend Toro.

Toro sushi is fresh, delicious and served beautifully. The cooked food is delicious as well. I had a teriyaki salmon bowl that came with rice and a salad. My table also had tempura, gyoza and miso soup and all of it was prepared well and was very tasty.

Very disappointed in the quality of food for the price. This was basic sushi with top tier cost. The toro looked de-thawed and had no color. The wagyu was a joke. I guess it's tourist sushi.

We sat in the Kimono Room on my birthday. FOOD. Had 1/2 order of tempura, which was excellent and just the right amount. Also ate the big sashimi platter with a side of sushi rice. Lots of high quality sashimi but we would have been hungry if we had not ordered the sushi rice. As a birthday acknowledgement, Toro gave us some pineapple mochi -- excellent, with a subtle not overly sweet taste. ROOM. Very nice. About 4-5 tables. Once the family with the two young kids left, the room noise was moderate and enjoyable. SERVICE. FANTASTIC!!! Brad is personable and knowledgeable. You definitely should ask for him. We will go again.

I came with my husband and son and daughter-in-law and 2 grandsons.

I'm the only one who does not like raw fish - to my delight there are many DELICIOUS menu items that I was able to enjoy!

Our party enjoyed all the standard and specialty sushi items: Garlic Edamame, Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna Cobb Salad, California Roll, Rainbow Roll, Tuna Sashimi, Shortt's Crunch Roll, and the star of the show them was The Main Squeeze Roll.

Gyoza, Shrimp Tempura, and Chicken Katzu mmmmmmm!!!

The waitress was very helpful with me to point out the items i would enjoy. Everything was clean and fresh and delicious.

Five stars, easily. I won't be afraid the next time they get a hankering for sushi - we'll be back!

You could tell it was the bosses night off. When we arrived the people seated at the bar had just left. The bar was never cleared; dirty plates/ napkins / drinks all left for well over a hour. Bartender drinking can after can of Diet Coke in clear site of guests. Food was pretty good. Atmosphere was ok - it was just clearly a night with little effort

This is a good place. We liked the food. The downsides are that the room is not very spacious and the wait time was a little long. Can’t complain about anything else! Good place to eat at in Carmel because the prices are reasonable unlike most other places there.

A Standout Sushi Experience at Toro in Carmel
Toro Sushi in Carmel delivered a dining experience that checked every box—fresh flavors, beautiful presentation, and genuinely warm service.

We started with the Garlic Edamame, which came steaming hot and packed with bold, savory flavor. The Tempura followed—crispy, golden, and remarkably light. The batter didn’t overwhelm the ingredients, which is rare and appreciated.

The Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna Cobb was a showstopper. Perfectly seared tuna over a bed of fresh greens, avocado, and a sesame vinaigrette that brought it all together. It was one of those dishes you think about long after the meal.

For sushi, each roll impressed:

The California Roll was clean and well-balanced.

The Rainbow Roll added a fresh layer of variety with beautifully sliced fish.

Shortt’s Crunch Roll had an addictive texture and just the right spice.

The Main Squeeze Roll was unique—bright citrus notes and a subtle sweetness made it unforgettable.

The vibe inside Toro is relaxed yet polished, with spotless tables and friendly, attentive staff. Every dish came out looking as good as it tasted. Whether you're a sushi fan or just exploring, Toro is a must-visit in Carmel.

Highly recommend. Five stars all the way.

Keep coming back to this place! The Salmon Tartar crispy rice is a hit - The Nigiri and Sashimi is great as well.

My fiancé and I were really looking forward to some good sushi… this place didn’t hit the mark. The fish was poor quality and didn’t taste fresh at all. Staff was nice and helpful and we were seated promptly.

Low quality fish, high prices. Cute place though

Toro never fails to deliver the best sushi in the area!! The seared sushi rolls are outstanding!! The food is always fresh and delicious. A great wine list adds to the attraction of the restaurant. The service is good for the most part. That said, the servers are always friendly and the food always comes to the table promptly. I've eaten there a dozen times or more and will continue to always go there for sushi. And at a time when so many restaurants in Carmel are so overpriced, Toro remains very reasonably priced!
