really good simple tacos. birria is well flavored and you add your own toppings. a staple!

Not good Mexican food! I've tried this place a few times and it's very sub par. Very bland not a lot of flavor. Customer service sucks too.

Staying in Carp for a couple months and thought we’d give this place a shot. First, it was very expensive for what we got. We had 3 items and they got that wrong, we got a rice and bean burrito instead of a bean and cheese. Had to drive back to the shop to correct the order. The bean and cheese burrito was whole white beans not refried, and was decent tasting. My son and I got 3 quesobirria tacos with consommé. The tacos were barely “ok”, the meat was good but the tacos were soggy and falling apart. The consumme was tasteless to a point where I chose the salsa they serve instead. Overall, if there are zero other options it might be worth a look, otherwise look elsewhere for Mexican food.

Tacos are good but a little expensive for the quality. Would be nice if some chips were included if you spend over a certain

This is a nice little hole-in-the-wall taqueria, with all the essentials: lots of menu options and lots of salsa. Actually, they really take salsa seriously, with an abundance of options you can select from, all labeled so no surprises. I ordered three tacos: two chicken and one pork. The thing about Don Roge: when you order chicken tacos, you get loads of chicken (and little else). When you order pork, you get loads of pork. You can then supplement your tacos with whatever salsas you want, and in any combination. I liked a combo of pico de gallo supplemented with salsa diabla. Wonderful (and super zippy)! Service consists of going to the counter to place your order. They're nice, friendly and super prompt. If you grab a seat, indoors (small, not many options) or outside (many more options, bigger tables), they'll bring your food out to you. You'll need to ask for napkins, which they'll gladly bring. (The overloaded tacos, which I loaded up even more, are a bit messy.) Anyway, Don Roge is now my go-to taqueria joint in Carpinteria, especially since Tacos-to-go across the street went the way of the dodo.

Really middle of the road taco shop. It wouldn't be my first choice but we were feeling tacos and these guys were the few shops in town. I got some enchiladas and street tacos. The enchiladas were pretty good. The street tacos were a bit bare. They came with the tortillas and the meat. The salsa bar had all the toppings you needed. It really puts emphasis on the meat. Unfortunately the meat didn't quite deliver. If I were here again, I'd probably skip both enchiladas and street tacos and try the birria tacos. This shop shares an entrance with an ice cream shop. If you're in the mood for ice cream it wouldn't be a far walk to dessert.

Super friendly staff, nice and clean and they serve you at your tables. Food is excellent and the lengua tacos are crazy delicious. Attached to it is an ice cream place too where you can get avocado flavor. Does not look like much but try it! They also have an outside area to eat. We stop in and eat whenever we pass though Carpinteria. ?Parking: Park on street or side street. Also market across the street allows parking.Kid-friendliness: My niece and nephew are very picky what they eat and they were very accomedating.Wheelchair accessibility: Level entrance and room inside or outside for a wheelchair. My dad is in one.

This small joint is good. I was surprised to see their variety of options on their menu. Their prices are a little different than what you see online. Just something to keep in mind while you order taco after taco after taco. They have a well stocked salsa bar with chopped onions, cilantro, radishes, etc. I really liked their salsas ?The place is definitely small. Seating is a bit limited inside but there is some outside seating available. Their service is friendly.

Amazing burrito ( the tortilla is a little toasted which is yummy), very nice staff, clean salsa bar. Would highly recommend

Ordered super (= sour cream and pico de gallo added) steak burrito with no rice and light beans. Got tons of rice, very little steak, and no sour cream. It did have pico de gallo and light beans tho. No flavor at all, mostly just rice. I do not recommend this place.

Came here to get my kids and their friends dinner. They specifically requested it. I ordered 2 burritos and 8 tacos. After watching 5-6 other people order and leave or pick up to go orders my order was finally ready after a long 30min wait. Only it was not my order I was handed. The kid walked to the back and then came back apologizing he’d made a mistake and offering my money back or wait 10 more minutes. Frustrating to say the least but I had ordered already and had a family waiting on food who’d been waiting so waited 10 more minutes for the order. As I left a man who’d picked up food a while before mine said they’d handed him wrong order… surprise. I finally Got home to realize tacos had just meat and tortillas. Will stick with Reyes the best Mexican food and service in town from now on. I’m not a person to EVER write a review (good or bad) but I have never received worse service. Never waited so long for an order. I’d already tipped when I placed the order so 45 min wait and a tip amounted to a disappointing Friday night. Universe teaching me patience I guess ?.

Tacos Don Roje is serious about salsa. I'm talkin' nine different kinds, all labeled so you know what you're diving into. Had myself three juicy carnitas tacos, and Ramona went for the enchiladas that took her right back to Guanajuato. Service was quick and friendly, and they didn't waste money on fancy stuff - they put it in the food, where it counts. We kicked back outside, enjoying that sweet Carpentaria weather after a short bike ride from the beach. And hey, there's an ice cream shop next door. What more can you ask for? Score! Definitely recommend this joint if you need to fix a taco craving.
