I couldn't find it inside marketplace, so I called them and got precise direction.
It is winter time, no tables outside, so I took a table between them and a butchery.
Chef's truffle tuna rolls are to die for.
They also have good selection of japanese sake in bottles.

I tried the Avocado Maki. I loved the texture and flavor of the sushi roll. I am looking forward there again.
I have tried avocado maki only once. It was great. I would definitely go there again next time. The texture is well designed, the rice is well-cooked and the advocado tastes fresh to me.

We will always go for their Bluefin Truffle roll (see pic) and their Lion King Roll.
Sometime it would take a while for orders to be ready but knowing it's freshly made and they have a small operating kitchen, it's understandable. We are willing to wait cuz it's worth it.
I hope they will be expanding their business soon. 😉

Lion King roll is amazing!! Prices are on the high end but the food is good & worth it in my opinion.
I used to live in the South Bay so my absolute favorite sushi place is all the way down there but this is my favorite place in the East Bay!!

The order was delayed, the portions were much smaller than expected. The food itself was good.
Unfortunately no miso soup or rice can be ordered

The last time I will spend a single dollar at Akemi. We've been going to Akemi since they opened in the marketplace years ago now. They were in our regular rotation of local restaurants that we support. Not because they are the best tasting sushi in town, but because we want to help our local restaurants survive and its convenient.
Last night was Valentines Day and we were told our order would be ready at 6:30pm. I arrived promptly and checked in. Unfortunately, our order was not ready and they pulled the ticket and started working on it, would take 20 mins. Fine, they're busy, I understand. I have a seat with a bunch of other people waiting. They stopped taking orders at some point and only a few people have picked up their orders since I arrived. 40 minutes later, I go back up to the counter. Turns out our order has been sitting there for about 20 mins. Not a peep from the staff. I didn't want to crowd around the front and bother them repeatedly. My mistake.
Now, if this were the first time this happened, I could let it go. The problem is, this exact scenario has happened multiple times now. Check in, food is ready, no one says anything. I guess were all supposed to go up and check every time we see an order placed on the counter.
They are consistently behind schedule. Order something to be picked up at 630, don't bother showing up for a least 10-15 minutes after your pick up time. At this point, with the amount of time I've wasted sitting and waiting for my order, I'll go elsewhere. The sushi is average at best. The rice has little to no flavor (and sometimes tastes old). Save yourself some time and go to a better sushi place.

Simply the best sushi around. Incredibly fresh fish, gorgeously prepared nigiri and if preferred, there are specialty rolls that hit just right. We’ve been coming here for years and are so so thankful we have a high end, quality sushi spot here in CV!

It's kind of like a mall food court, but the sashimi is great and our dinner was just great altogether.

I checked out this Marketplace in Castro Valley for the first time and I'm impressed with the cleanliness of it and the variety of foods/desserts they offer. For lunch, I ordered the Dragon and Lion King rolls, and i love it so much coz they put "real" crab meat and not imitation crab. Also, the service is great! I'll definitely be back!
The true meaning of - you get what you PAY for. There's nothing that would draw you to the space, real simple walk up - order off the menu or their already prepared section of pre made food. Rice meh! doesn't stick to actual roll (it wasn't gummy) but it didn't stick like traditional sushi ?. Wld I return, not likely. Kind cashier, tho.

This place is mild hit or miss. Today was a huge miss. All the fish on the rolls was supermarket sushi thin. Thats not OK for a $16 roll.
