Good selection of hard to find European products. They also have delicious prepared foods

My pal Pasquale Wong the Rodeo Clown from New Hampshire is here on winter break and wanted to meet me at the European Market Deli for sandwiches. Now, I wouldn't normally drive all the way to Castro Valley from Napa for a free sandwich but when Pasquale said "European Market Deli" I was all in! They're the best in the east bay, Castro Valley for sure. Plus, I wanted to hear about the Grand Nationals, and how he pulled Twiller Bunkinstick of the back of the rank bull, without getting run over.Man-O-Man those sandwiches were great. 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆

A lot of Eastern European food! Selection is vast from Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Macedonia, Moldova, Czech Republic, Poland, etc. cooked foods mostly Easter Euro fare which is plenty and yummy. Huge selection of cold cuts and Euro preserved meats. Pickles and preserved veggies are vast. Anything you want Eastern Euro is there. Service is nice and what you expect. Very formal which is expected. Nice setting and well organized. A great place to visit if you like Eastern Euro food.

Needs an upgrade, I'm sorry. I had called and asked if they had a particular spice but I couldn't understand them so I went there and the young girl was so rude. The vibes were just off. Won't be going back :/

This has been my go-to Russian/Ukrainian store since 2005. It used to have a small dining room and we did my stepson's wedding reception there and it was great, including the decor, catering and everything. The selection is great, the catering is awesome. Whenever we need anything but cannot go right that minute, wife calls the store and asks to put it aside, then I stop by and pick it up. This store made our life richer and better. Thank you!

Europeans are usually a hit or miss (mostly misses). I have been to this location twice. 1st time - got a couple of beers - they have a pretty good selection of European beers at a reasonable price. 2nd time - came looking more specifically for food (Polish). The store is pretty small and limited depending on what you are looking for. - Got a Polish beer - memories - Beet soup - they had a couple options with was surprising - Deli meat - they have a pretty good selection of meat however you cannot get slices you have to purchase the whole piece of deli meat - example a whole salami roll - Salads - very limited on the fresh salads that tasted not too bad I would come back again only for specific items that I knew that they had.

A good small store, it's been around for decades so they know how to serve their customers.

It was supposed to open at 11. Half a dozen customers waited outside today until noon. Some told me it wasn't the first time. What a terrible way to run a business! There was an open box with bread (delivered by a bakery) just sitting around by the door. With an invoice attached to it. Some of the customers came specifically for the bread. If you buy bread from this store, better keep in mind that all sorts of critters may have gotten cozy with your loaf before you bought it. Avoid!

This store started to change 4% on all credit/debit card transactions and demanding cash if you don’t want to pay that fee.In 2021, when the world moving toward more of contactless checkout and online payments, it’s unheard of small business passing payment provider fees to consumers. This Business trying to squeeze any extra dollar out of consumer and as such , they don’t deserve my hard earned money. After almost two decades of supporting this small business, I will be taking my business elsewhere.I no longer can recommend this business.

Purchased fried piroshki with cabbage today, 2 @ $3.50 each. Brought home, and they were ROTTEN (smelly, nasty and bitter) inside!!! This is not the first time that we had issues with food from this place, though probably the most serious one. In the past, we also saw candies with worms, nasty-tasting cake that also was clearly not fresh, and other less-than-fresh food, also from this store. Please refund our $7.00 for the bad piroshki with cabbage, and we won't buy piroshki here ever again. BUYER BEWARE!!!
