We had a disappointing experience at Ice Creamery. My daughter found a hair in her ice cream after eating about half of it. We let the staff know, and the girl at the counter was friendly and apologetic. She said she would speak to the manager.

A few minutes later, the manager came to our table, said nothing, and wordlessly placed a new cup of the same ice cream in front of us. I told her we didn’t want it. Maybe we didn’t want the same flavor in case it happened again. Maybe we had just lost our appetite. Either way, an apology and a simple “Is there anything we can do to make it right?” would have gone a long way. Instead, she awkwardly picked up the ice cream and walked away without a word.

We waited a few more minutes, expecting some follow-up or acknowledgment, but none came. We eventually just left.

The girls working the counter were polite and helpful. The manager, on the other hand, was useless and clearly didn’t care. A little empathy would have made all the difference.

The service has been very bad. They are very terrible with customer service. We placed an order and in the end they didn't bring us what we had ordered.

Ridiculous service here. We would like to order a split ice cream for dine in. This is our first time to here, we did not know we should talk to cashier first or waitress first. However, when I mentioned to the cashier and the waitress that I would just order a split ice cream for here. All of them behaved embarrassed like I did something bad. And the cashier asked me to the front to pay for the ice cream. And, I noticed something wrong. So, I confirmed with the cashier if I must eat the ice cream outdoors, and she nodded her head. Finally, I left right away. I do not know whether they think I am not gonna pay tips or not if I just order an ice cream split. However, the whole process was totally wrong and their face changed super fast. Note: it is 7:50pm,04/24/2025. The outdoor temperature in Castro Valley is 12 degrees Celsius ( I use Celsius as the default symbol in my phone).

This place is not good, the food is not seasoned and the caramel apple tasted dry and old and the caramel just fell off it.

This a sandwich is great, Dijon artichoke but. $20 for this? Can we drop the price or add soup and salad and fries instead just one of those? Is it an unreasonable expectation to want to leave with a full stomach after spending so much for lunch?

Best homemade ice cream in the area. They also have no sugar added and it is the best I've ever had.

I've only gotten ice cream there, but I'm glad to find an independent place like this with my new favorite blueberry cheesecake flavor among the usual stuff like coffee and butter pecan. Cherry vanilla needs work. We will be back!

Great place to get ice cream or order dessert. The food, however, is average. I won’t come back to eat sandwiches (BLT or Au Jus Roast Beef Sandwich). Pricey for what you order (get). Mud pie, however, was delicious. Great to share. Free parking in the back lot. Service was friendly and attentive.
