Service and food were excellent! Highly recommend this place for a casual meal at a very reasonable price.

Chili Verde Burrito was gas. Quick and fast service. Will definitely be coming back!

Very nice restaurant. However, the girl who served us had absolutely no emotion whatsoever. I ordered an enchilada plate with green sauce and it was extremely sweet. I asked my boyfriend who is Mexican to try it and he said it's absolutely not supposed to taste like that. Food was disappointing to say the least and not authentic.

This place rates no stars imho. Worst food I've ever had! Ordered chile verde and could not eat much of it at all: The sauce was vinegary and had no flavor of chiles that I could detect; every piece of meat had gristle or fat on it--one morsel was a complete lump of fat with a vein in it!--plus all pieces were dry and tough; beans were watery and bland, and the rice was just okay, nothing special. Chimichanga's presentation was attractive, but it was just okay and very disappointing. And be forewarned: The prices you see on the online menu are now nearly double! If this is "authentic Mexican food," I don't want to go to Mexico!

The food is very delicious, recommended but the waitress gave us terrible service. I think the owner is busy seeing that all the time he was in the cell. I am a waiter when I go to my tables at least I give them a fake smile. But my waitress had a terrible character.

Very good food and very generous portions! We had the artichoke enchilada which was pretty good, but I guess I'm just not that into artichokes.. The wet burrito however was really good, and huge!

Lots of good choices here. My husband loves their mole. We've never been disappointed. We always get great friendly service here.

Alfonso's Authentic Mexican Food was a cool surprise on our way down to Carmel. Like many have mentioned, the restaurant is in an unassuming strip mall next to a Roundhouse Pizza. We were just looking to pick up something along the way off the freeway and this fit the bill. Quick 10 min pick up and we were on the road again. The Super Burrito was amazing bursting with flavors. The Carne Asada Fries definitely hit the spot. They did not skimp on the sauces and guacamoleAnd guess what? It wasn't expensive at all! You get a lot of food for your money. I definitely recommend anyone on a road trip to stop by Alfonso's!

Love the carnitas tacos! Amazing and quick service. Chips and salsa not too spicy for my white spice levels. Horchata is by far my favourite!

23.0103 - After randomly pulling into a large commercial parking lot full of stores while in search of grub, we could have picked from no less than 4 obvious food retailers, we just happened to walk into this small restaurant first. We were promptly greeted and then handed the requested menus. We both quickly decided to order take out from them. We ended up ordering my favorite and standard order from any Mexican restaurant, that being a carnitas, bean and cheese burrito. The order taker, the receipt says it was "Jacky," allowed the substitution of cheese for the included rice in the burritos. We ate our hefty and very tasty burritos about a block away at a quiet spot before hitting the long road again. The carnitas were unique in their wet flavor profile. Most fast Mexican restaurants have partially crispy, little flavor profile carnitas. This was noticeably good carnitas. In addition to the quality burritos, we were surprised to find included in the bag, very freshly made tortilla chips. The requested and included green and red sauces were excellent as well. They also included to go utensils and plenty of napkins (that I asked for extras of). As an American of Hispanic descent that has certain food expectations from this particular order, I can whole heartedly say that Alfonso's has the touch. Note: The to go bag of food felt like it weighed 5# with everything in it. The burritos were large (sorry, no pictures). However, the price was the kicker. $11.80 after tax per burrito. My neighborhood local offering of the same is over $15 per these days and doesn't taste this good. Take advantage of your neighborhood gem people! If I/we lived anywhere near this restaurant, it would definitely be in the weekly+ rotation. Hope to see this leave again someday down (technically up) the road.
