The food and service were great. We ate inside and were cold from a brisk sea breeze. I would return on a warmer day or with warmer clothes.

Great food and reliable service. The bar up top is small but a great experience. T is an awesome bartender and offered great service both during busy and slow times. The restaurant downstairs is nice and they have big fire pit tables that host a lot of people at once.

A Central Coast Classic with Great Vibes and Ocean Views

Schooners is a landmark spot in Cayucos that delivers the quintessential beach town experience. It’s got that laid-back, local vibe—with a dog-friendly patio down below and ocean views from the upstairs bar that are hard to beat.

Food was solid—we tried the calamari (crispy and flavorful), the Fresh Catch Sandwich, and the Horseradish Crusted Ahi, which was a standout. Service was friendly both times we visited; our first visit came with a bit of a wait, but the second time was smooth and seamless.

Special shoutout to Brooke at the bar—an absolute gem! She’s warm, hardworking, and made us feel right at home. We also had the pleasure of meeting Jim Carter, a local with a great sense of humor and charm who really added to the experience.

Overall, Schooners is a must-visit for the atmosphere and hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!

We didn't get to eat there because no one came to seat us! They saw us and smiled, but just ignored us. so we left.

There was a live rock band.
This is a must visit location.
Tip the hostess and she'll sit you sooner.

We sat at the bar facing the ocean, which was fabulous on a Tuesday at about 1 in the afternoon. We each had a vodka sprite cocktail, which was disappointing as it was short and weak and served by a bartender who never cracked a smile. The two disappointing cocktails came to $18.00.
I miss the old Schooners ambiance.

No thanks.
