We were excited to experience Gen for the first time today during lunch. However, our initial impression was marred when, despite being informed that we would be seated promptly once a table was cleared and became available, a party of two behind us was seated immediately. Throughout our visit, we encountered challenges with our orders, as we received different meats from what we had requested on three separate occasions. The prolonged wait times for our orders to arrive compelled us to accept what was brought to our table rather than wait further. While I refrain from attributing blame to individual staff servers or food runners, it appears evident that there may be underlying organizational and management issues contributing to the lack of coordination and service efficiency at Gen.

It's 3/16 at 830pm the front girl thats the host is giving very bad customer service!! I don't see how her attitude and her sour puss face is tolerated by this establishment. You'd think they'd hire people with great customer service skills. Both Gen in Cerritos customer service stinks! You'd think that being in city of Cerritos You'd expect Great customer service. They don't know how to run the guestlist here! It's insane

The food has taken a turn for the worse. It's very easy to tell that they are providing cheaper quality meat now compared to before. The meat they sold before is now being sold as "premium" and being charged extra. I won't be back. For the price, there are much better korean bbq places.

I want to make sure this review goes to the right people and I think I just reviewed the main Korean barbecue spot next-door and I know this one is a smaller spot. I want to give a shout out to Troy and Carla. This seasoned vet saw us walk in took down our names right away and in a few moments bam sat us down and we totally missed the rush. In a usually busy crowded environment she even made the adjustment to sit us somewhere else bcuz I wanted to sit next to my Fiance so god bless her soul. I wish there was multiples of her in every restaurant I visit from now on because I love the care she gave us and the sweetness I felt in the small time I had with her. Even when walking out she greeted us and told us to have a great night. ITS THE LITTLE DETAILS LIKE THAT WILL GO DOWN ON A REVIEW AND SAY HERE TAKE MY MONEY IM COMING BACK FOR THEM AND THAT SIMPLE EXPERIENCE. Now on to Troy our server. Troy is not only attentive he's a DAWG. He took care of us made sure our meat got here on time and when one of the meats didn't come out on rotation he made sure it came right away no hesitation. When I say Troy's a DAWG he had another party of like 6 and BAM brought out there stuff double handed like a pro. You would think dudes caring everything for them but nope told us I got you guys and he got our stuff as well. I need servers like that at my future wedding. I want a full staff of Troy's a bunch of DAWGS at a restaurant. Thanks for making our nights both you two, I don't always write reviews but gawwwww dang I want to make sure you guys are heard and you guys are recognized. Not my average KBBQ night it was top notch thank you both made an impact on me and my fiancé. Definitely coming back and trying out their new menu that Troy showed us in the beginning. Gave us an excuse to have it again. Thanks again Carla and Troy for making our usual date night experience a night to remember with amazing service from you too and a beautiful time at a beautiful restaurant. Food is overwhelming here , fresh , with great flavor , well marinated , some of the staff sometimes forget sometimes to check on you to see if you might need anything, Place they seat you really fast , and is cozy , really decent place .... If staff gets a little more aware of service they can do great

Waitress didn't like serving us! Didn't bring rice at all. Would not check on us at all! The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because, another waiter jumped in and took care of us. Won't be going back.
They said our table was ready at 8:30, kept telling us to go outside and wait, and keep letting people in front of us.

THERE WAS ABSOLUTE PITIFUL SERVICE! Not only did our server constantly drop stuff, but we waited extreme amounts of time for the WRONG FOOD to be brought out. We waited over an hour for them to bring out food from the premium menu and charge us extra for it. Not to mention, when we mentioned that we had not gotten the food we waited so long for, which we were also assured was coming several times, no course of reciprocation was made. Our meal was not payed for, our food was not brought out, and we were simply told sorry for waiting there for an hour for no food. Its not like we could have just asked for different food, as there is a limit to how much you can order at one time. Simply put, we were stuck waiting for no food to come out for an entire hour at an obvious fake all you can eat bbq. I will never come here again, and I pity the fool who comes here.

Food was good. Wish I actually got some though. Service was not good. Me and my friends waited for an hour for our APPETIZERS and they told us multiple times it would come out but it never did. And then, as the final straw, our bill was $131!! For one hour of food?? We spent half our meal waiting! Then all we get was "Oh Im sorry that happened to you". Get out of here mannnn. Someone needs to get a talking to because I am not coming back any time soon.

This place is awesome. First, we arrived at the bigger Gen location in Cerritos but no one helped us for like 15 minutes until we went up to someone ourselves to ask for a table. Unfortunately they were closing early contrary to what the store hours were on the map. So when they directed us to the location next to them with different hours, it was a bit confusing but it all made sense. We're easygoing so no worries. We drove closer and that's when we were greeted by a kind waiter! He directed us to their online menu and we started with drinks. The drinks however were not so nice...our sodas had stuff floating in them, but that's what I always expect when I eat out at busy restaurants so oh well. We didn't complain to our waiter or anything because we don't like complaining. We do plan on just getting bottled drinks next time though. Our drinks were full to the rim and still a little over $10 for both. Anyway, so we were charged $29.99 per person for all you can eat and you can order two meats and a side per round. We ordered a few rounds until we got full which was awesome! We got the pork bulgogi (2/5 stars), beef bulgogi (5/5 stars and our favorite), prime steak (2/5 stars), and another beef bulgogi because it was the best! And for the sides we just got all Japchae which was super tasty! We wish it came with two sides but I guess it's ok. The portions were a bit small or maybe we're just fat hahaha so we got four rounds until we were finally satisfied. Not their fault I guess! Either way the food was super good, can't complain. I think we just didn't rave about the prime steak because it's literally just steak (which wasn't the freshest steak and didn't even have a marinade), or the pork bulgogi for its texture; for us these two items were disappointing but the beef bulgogi was super flavorful and had great texture. My only semi-complaint is that you have to lower the temperature down yourself and wave down a waiter for a new grill plate or you'll burn everything super easily, but no worries we'd definitely come back. Btw it was my first time ever eating at Gen, and it was my boyfriends third time coming to a Gen establishment. He has always told me stories about his experience at Gen being super fun when he went with his family and friends and honestly I loved the fun, colorful ambiance of this restaurant too. It just feels like a fun time and I love that you can cook your own food in front of you, how fun!! We left a really good tip and thanked our waiter and that was the end of our night! Good food, fast service, and I forgot to mention this waiter checked on us a few times which was great! Thank you Gen we plan to eat here again.
