I’m really disappointed to have to write this review because my family and I have been loyal customers of Frutas at Broadway for a long time. We’ve always loved their food and have spent a lot of money there over the years. Unfortunately, my visit yesterday (around 3:44 p.m.) completely changed how I feel about this place due to a terrible experience with one of the employees named Judy.
I placed an order totaling more than $60, as I often do, expecting the same friendly service and good food I’ve always enjoyed. Instead, I was treated rudely and disrespected. While waiting for my order, I could clearly hear Judy talking about me from behind the wall, she was well aware that I could hear her. She was also on the phone with what seemed to be her daughter, speaking negatively about her as well, which made the whole atmosphere even more uncomfortable.
When I politely asked how much longer my order would take, she responded in a very dismissive way and made unnecessary comments to another worker instead of addressing me respectfully. After I finally received my food, I told her that if she had something to say about me, she should say it directly. Her response was shocking, she said, “I’m telling you to your face that you had to wait because you ordered later than other customers.” Her tone was rude and completely unprofessional.
As I left, she sarcastically said, “Have a good day,” which only added insult to injury. When I asked for her name, another worker said, “Judy,” and she stepped forward with a challenging attitude and repeated, “My name is Judy.”
This was such a disappointing and upsetting experience, especially from a place I used to love and recommend to friends and family. I now feel uncomfortable going back, because after being treated this way, I honestly worry about how my food might be handled in the future.
It’s really sad that one employee’s unprofessional and disrespectful behavior can ruin the reputation of an entire restaurant and cost them loyal customers. My family and I will not be returning after this experience, and I hope management takes this situation seriously so that no other customer has to go through something similar.

The Milanese tortas don't taste good and they don't prepare them well. They don't taste good. The employees are distracted and don't pay attention to what you're ordering. Terrible service.

Heads up you have to call in your take order like an hour in advance, and then get to the store and remind them about your order. Horrible service, 2 star food so what’s the wait ? All ladies at the front just talking and staring at each other

I always get a custom smoothie. Strawberry and banana with yogurt instead of milk and no sugar. I add honey to it and it’s amazing! I highly recommend a smoothie although everyone else seems to be getting a fruit salad which also looks amazing. I had the special torta, ham and lomo with everything. It was different than the TJ styles one I’ve had which I was hoping to find a closer variation this side of the border. However, their special torta is a lot better than others I’ve had in the area. Their smoothies, I highly recommend. Staff is very friendly, it’s very clean. Orders take them a while but it’s worth the wait. I usually go at night to avoid longer lines and wait times during the day.

Frutas has several location in San Diego but this one, located on Broadway is the best one of all!!. My absolute favorite Healthy Mexican Cafe!. I love that this place has been here for years and the flavors only keep getting better and better!. The portions are huge! The food is super fresh and every single item on their menu is a 10/10!. I 100% recommend this place to everyone!.

10/10 EVERYTIME!!! The staff here are absolutely incredible. When I say every staff here looks like they love their work, I mean every staff member makes you feel welcome. Management did a phenomenal job creating this welcoming environment.
The smoothie & sandwiches are out of this WORLD 🌍 I don’t know how they make smoothies taste so incredible. Wait… There’s more! I’m literally crying tears of joy over this food.
These sandwiches OMG OMG OMG a burst of flavor and spice from the jalapeños are so incredible. I love coming to this place when I’m in town.
Only 1 bad thing… I wish you were in Temecula 😂 driving an hour for this incredible place is worth it EVERYTIME.

Second visit to the Broadway store with the same lousy experience: I waited 35 minutes for my food to be ready. I was told that they were short on cooks but that only means poor management. A good supervisor/manager jumps into action when there is a problem or personnel shortages. Radio is so loud that you can't hear the cashiers. The food was not worth what I paid for it. Prices skyrocketed; an orange juice was expensive at eight dollars, now it costs eleven. A torta costs 13 dollars!!! The services is insincere, monotone and unpersonal. Never go back again.

The food portions are magnificent, you definitely get your money's worth. The hygiene and attention to detail in the cleanliness of the dine-in and prep table are unmatched. Remember! Everything is made from scratch and by the order: this means, your food will take time to prep, so make sure to plan ahead, order online or by the phone. Every item is prep with care so proper timing is required, if you are visiting during the lunch rush you will have to wait. But the wait is always worth. 10/10 in service. Great food but takes time.
