Waitress are rude and condescending.
Also, I guess that was a manager that took the payment, not very welcoming, no thank you, no smile, not even a fake grin. Rude!

Staff are great! That's for sure. NO Bagoong for Kare-kare. Might as well scrap that on the menu. It won't be called Kare-kare without bagoong.
Lechon kawali was crispy and properly seasoned. Liked the sinigang na bangus!

Worst online ordering experience ever! Placed order at 1030 a.m. for
2 p.m.delivery.
Never got order confirmation until 2:35
Delivery person had to wait at restaurant for 35 minutes just to get the hastily packed 6 item order given to him in the thinnest plastic bag known to man.....so thin it burst open in the driver's warmer bag.
Could never get a response from the restaurant about order or complaint.
Mind you this was not a cheap meal!
Totally the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
Never again!

“For $32 (beef bulalo) I was expecting a hearty soup. Instead, I received a modest bowl with a few stray vegetables and a hint of meat—hardly enough for one person, let alone the 3–4 it supposedly serves. Unless those people are on a liquid diet, the portion size is laughable. A truly bold pricing strategy for such a minimal offering.”

“When we pointed out that the soup had almost no meat, the staff helpfully took it back—only to return with the meat separated from the broth, as if to prove the portion was sufficient. Unfortunately, separating the ingredients only made it more obvious how little there was. For $32, you’d expect more than a few scraps of meat and a thin broth. They claim it serves 3–4 people; maybe if those people aren’t particularly hungry. A creative approach to customer service, but not one that changes the facts.”

This restaurant is grossly overpriced and completely disappointing.

When I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the staff, setting the tone for what turned out to be a wonderful dining experience. The hospitality was genuine and heartfelt — the servers took the time to explain some of the dishes I wasn’t familiar with and offered great recommendations. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the service was prompt without being rushed, which made the whole experience feel even more special!

I chose to dine in at Max's in Chula Vista, craving some Filipino cuisine, and the food completely exceeded my expectations. Everything I tried was bursting with flavor and absolutely delicious. Their kare-kare was rich and savory with that perfect peanut sauce, and the lechon kawali was super crispy on the outside and so juicy inside. The garlic rice was the perfect side — simple yet perfect. Every bite felt like real comfort food, the kind that sticks with you in the best way. You could tell the recipes were authentic and the ingredients fresh. I will be dining here again with my family, excited to try more of their dishes!
