“Unexpectedly good stop on a stormy road trip

Driving from Elk Grove to LA today with super unstable weather — heavy rain one moment, sunshine the next.
Stopped by Taco Bell about halfway through the drive, and honestly… it hit the spot.

It was very windy with a bit of rain outside, but once inside, the food tasted surprisingly good.
Warm tacos, crunchy shells, cheesy items, and even the Cinnamon Twists felt extra comforting during a long drive.

Sometimes it’s not about fancy food — it’s about the right food at the right moment.

“Let me tell you how amazing the staff is here. Sean is a great employee, during his shift he is reliable, hardworking l, and great with customers, and I once saw him when he was off his shift and he can dab, whip, and nae nae OG style. And Jay was just as equally as great of an employee. When I got home I did have explosive diarrhea but that's what you get for mixing ever hot sauce together in your mountain dew.“

“I don’t want to talk about the bathrooms or anything but omg. There is a grill inside here with Mexican food. Baja Fresh. BEST.BURRITO.EVER. I pulled in here while traveling thinking I would just grab subway bc I’m hungry but was wishing I had enough time to get “real food.” Saw the Mexican food grill and decided not to judge it by its surroundings (the grill itself is really clean, and the lady was even wearing a hair net). Anyway, I got the ultimo burrito with pork carnitas. They grilled it for me right then and there- carnitas vegetables and rice a popped it in a tortilla and grilled the outside. SO GOOD. Vegetables cooked just right. Carnitas tasted like it was slow roasted and then marinated. Seasoned perfectly. It was huge but so delicious I ate the whole thing and haven’t even thrown away the wrapping yet - needed to write this review first, it was that good.“

“I go to subway frequently. I say the cleanliness fair. Ive never gotten stale bread. They do lack on my favorite watermelon drink though. Their's one guy in particular there.! Not sure what his name is, he's super tall, almost as high as the menu board. He's costumer service and vibe is great.! He makes his sandwiches with love. Never sloppy never seen him argue with a costumer, always patient. I've let others cut in front of my family and myself just so he can make our sandwiches.!“

“There were (2) people in line before me but they were promptly provided service. There were (2) employees working behind the counter. One took my order and added the meat, cheese and veggie items I requested. She even offered to cut my sandwich and add sriracha sauce to one side of the sandwich and individually wrap them since I was going to share it.The other employee worked the register and took my payment. The restaurant has an open and spacious feel to it. Subway is located inside a store with a community bathroom which was dirty with toilet paper on the ground in 3 of the 4 stalls. One bathroom was out of order and (2) stalls had toilets that were not flushing but were full of suprises for the next guest who opens the stall door. (This was the women's bathroom) I guess no one cleans the bathrooms throughout the day. Besides the bathroom ordeal, the service at Subway was good.

Parking: Subway is located inside the store at a gas station with limited parking. We parked at the gas pump.“

“Reasonable quick bite at a gas & restroom stop between LA and the Bay Area. Baja Fresh is a good option if you don’t want burgers and gourmet steak (Harris across the freeway)Choice of meats, and tortillas. Generally tasty.However, I t’s hard to give a 5-star with pre-cooked meats that’s not very warm. I do like that the server gave us options to add exactly what we want and don’t want on the tacos.Friendly and prompt service Ann’s clean tables. Pictures contains current pricing as of 10/2023.“
