I've been to hundreds of Japanese restaurants. In LA. In NYC. In Tokyo. In Kyoto. The local efforts in Sonoma County are often not great. But SHIGE IS GREAT. It's run by actual Japanese people who know what the correct flavors and qualities are in Japanese food. Shige in Cotati is a Gem. I am a total sushi snob and I say with confidence that above all this restaurant shows it’s strength through its food. It is small, cute, clean, has outdoor seating. My wife dropped her chopsticks and no joke she had a fresh pair in-hand from our waiter in less than ten seconds it was amazing and the food is GOOD get the hamachi collar appetizer and their maguro was of higher-than-most quality.
