Great bar! Food wasn't quite up the the quality my Friend and I were anticipating...but we were holding it to a standard of a recently closed pub we loved eating and drinking at.

Best curiously Scottish-named Irish Pub / dive-bar you've never been to in the middle of Silicon Valley. Old and stuffy (in an excellent way) with red-velvet lined furniture and ornate wooden bannisters, dark and cozy inside, and a roomy fenced-in outdoor patio.Update 2024: hasn't changed a bit,and definitely hasn't changed a byte.

Excellent #beefwellington dinner. Had Harps & Guiness to wash it down with. Is within short distance from hotels and shopping for your convenience, and great story about the history of Edinburgh. Enjoy...cheers mate!Parking: Plenty of parking available.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp access and patio access.

My husband, who is from England, and I went here for dinner tonight. Hadn't been here since we dated 30+ years ago. My husband ordered Scotch Eggs for an appetizer and I had never had them before and they sounded gross, LOL But to my surprise the scotch eggs were delicious!!! Then for our dinner, I ordered the 8 oz Prime Rib with baked potato and vegetables and my husband had the Cornish Pasty with fries. I had a bite of his cornish pasty and it was delicious! I ordered the prime rib dinner it was a total disaster. Prime rib was overcooked, tough, and dry, veggies were lukewarm at best and the baked potato was not fully cooked and had a rotten spot inside that they just ignored, and it was supposed to come with a Yorkshire pudding. No gravy or au jus served with the dry meat or Yorkshire pudding. Veggies were lukewarm at best. The baked potato was lukewarm too. When I complained they offered to bring me a new dinner and what I got was a rarer prime rib, which was better but still tough and still not great, and sort of warmer veggies but still not hot enough to melt butter on them and BOTH the baked potatoes had a black/rotten spot in the middle, which they should have noticed when they cut it. The first one I dug out and tired to eat it, although it wasn't completely cooked. By then I was really hungry. And still, no gravy or au jus for the Yorkshire pudding but some kind of gravy-type stuff with a layer of dried skin on the top which was supposed to be for the meat as they forgot to give me a new Yorkshire pudding all together. I asked where the Yorkshire pudding was and they brought me a burnt one, LOL Pretty bad. If this place is still owned by English owners I think they need to take another look at the food they are serving and bring up their standards??? Would love to hear from them.

Nice and cozy bar next to ranch99 and Apple Park. Fast service and variety of snack
Not really a pub atmosphere - more of a sports bar in costume since American football was on the TV. The decor and seating is quite pub-like.Horrible food, even the Shepard's pie which lacked flavor. I shudder to think what the prime rib or beef Wellington taste like. Chips were soggy. They don't have Pimm's. I won't be back.

We had the Beef Wellington and the Prime Rib; it was good and yes, I do recommend for the food! The interior and furnishings were old and needed to be replaced. Cushion on booth seats was too worn and lumpy service was good and attentive

Our waitress was drunk (literally). Drinks took forever to get refilled. One of our buddies had his order skipped and when it came (he ordered a shepherds pie) it ended up being a cottage pie (beef) with no crispy top (you know, one of the hallmarks of a shepherds pie). His meal and mine were both VERY salty. The dessert was nice, but seemed like they made a big batch and froze it in portions. My other friends mentioned that the drinks were fine. The atmosphere had a very 80s diner/pub feel...a bit dark, but the regulars seemed to get along fine. Parking lot was dark and very sketchy though. The floor was sticky and so were the tables.

I've been to The Duke many times. I've never had a bad experience. The food is good, the staff are friendly, and it has a great atmosphere. I recommend the prime rib.
