After completing the Lake Merced loop, we were craving donuts and unfortunately went to George's on West Portal based on the recent hype (don’t go there). Since it was lunch time, they only had donut holes and were a 15-minute ready-to-order wait. No thanks. Pretty great doughnuts. Usually I struggle with sweetness levels but these were rightly sugared. I tried the plain, sugar, cinnamon, chocolate glazed, blueberry, sugar glazed and maple bar donut.
Never liked doughnuts or sweets but they make a mean bear claw. But for the real review: Go for the Banh Mi, it's as good as Saigon Sandwiches without the headache of long lines or being in the Tenderloin if you're not from the city. Any option is well seasoned, not too salty, well balanced usage of vegetables and generous quantity of meat for the quality and price.
