Very disappointing checkout experience.
After selecting my ingredients and handing them to the counter, the cashier automatically added a 20% tip without informing me.
The cashier moved very quickly, and there was no verbal notice, no screen prompt, and no request for consent before the gratuity was applied. I only noticed it after checking my receipt.
This is not acceptable, especially for a self-service style restaurant. Tips should never be added without clear communication and customer approval.
Please be cautious and check your receipt carefully if you dine here.
Update: The business response focused on pointing out that I shared similar feedback on another platform, rather than addressing why the checkout experience felt confusing and rushed. I rarely leave reviews and do so only when an experience is genuinely problematic. Repeating that “nothing is added automatically” does not change how the process was experienced as a customer. Feedback shared across platforms should be taken as a signal to review the process, not to dismiss the concern.

Found a long black hair in my food. Sauce station is very small.
Just found out Serramonte Center has Yang Guo Fu in the food court 😂 Perfect spot for a hot bowl of malatang on a foggy Daly City lunch break. $14.99/lb with fresh veggies, meats, and three soup bases (beef bone, tomato, spicy dry). Loved the beef & lamb rolls, mushrooms, lotus root, and konjac for a lighter option. Their red oil wontons ($5.99) are freshly made and so tasty—can’t wait to try the dim sum they’re adding soon!

Not sure if this is standard for the chain or because it's a food court location, but there were quite limited options for ingredients and broth. $14.99/lb as of September 2025 puts it at par with other malatang places. It's fine if you're really craving, but there are better standalone options elsewhere.

It’s located within the food court. You can pick any ingredients you want. Soup is spicy and authentic with great flavor, highly recommend!

Food was pretty good and for a pound, reasonable price. Food selextion feels a bit low. I didn't see a spoon though to help drink the broth. Chopsticks were lower quality than other places. I'm pretty sure I found a frog leg in my broth and didn't put it there.
My food was ready but the sign did not update so I did not get it and waited about three more minutes.

Very delicious😭😭😭😍😍😍
The food was fresh and the workers would kind! Would recommend!
Deece place, 14.99/lbs for Malatang is ok. Not too much selection as other places but enough for a quick and cheap meal. As long as you don't go over board with ingredients you'll have a similar experience. Do the Google review for a free drink too!
Great food
Taste like always? The taste is average, the most disappointing Malatang, bar none
