The night we visited was crowded and really busy, taxing the staff a bit. Overall, it was a consistent visit with prior evenings - great views, delicious food. One breakdown was that the entrees arrived well before the salad (which I then declined). The server was gracious. It was a good evening.

This location has incredible views, and we got a table outside. It was a bit breezy, so I asked for a heater and it took quite a while and a few people to figure out how to change the tank and get the heaters working. Our waiter was very sweet, but he seemed flustered. I did not think much of the food here at all. The presentation of the food was surprisingly very average. It was almost unappetizing to look at when the food that came out. The taste was not any better to be honest.

Had originally made a reservation for 7:00 for my anniversary with my wife. We arrive roughly around 6:55 and proceed to have to wait up to half an hour just to be seated. We waited roughly another 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive. After our drinks arrived our service seemed to get better but overall it left a bad taste in our mouth having to wait that long just to be seated for our own reservation. Especially when we noticed that guests who arrived later than us seem to be seated before us and were served before us as well.

I would not recommend.

We've enjoyed Chart House for special occasions and the view over many years. Food and service have not kept up with local competition, however, in terms of quality. There is a lot of effort put forth and they seem to be trying hard, but the flavors somehow fall short. They were also sold out of two sides we requested and we were there at 6:30. Also the birthday which we mentioned in our reservation was not acknowledged at all.

Chart House, Dana Point. What a shame. Bad experience. Went with a group for a celebration. Entire restaurant is horribly understaffed. Employees tried hard although there were varying degrees of expertise in play as well. Two bartenders for the entire restaurant, apparently. Before our dinner, it took 20-30 minutes to get a drink at the bar. After we were seated, we ordered apps. and drinks and it took almost 45 minutes for our drink order to arrive at the table (the apps came after that)... and in the meantime, we were being asked by our server what mains we wanted. Wrong drinks were brought. Wrong mains were brought. What could have been a cohesive 2-hour dinner turned into a 5-hour test-of-patience. Fortunately we all had good attitudes and enjoyed each others' company. BUT, such restaurant operations are abymsal. Note to restaurant: GET MORE STAFFING; right now you are a failure at operations.

I said it was my wife's birthday, we request window seating, the host said she couldn't sit us where she originally planned so sat us somewhere else no where near a window. They did nothing for my wife's bday. Food was cold, the service took almost 1 hour from the time we ordered until we got our food.

Opentable Diner

Had not visited the restaurant for over a year. Portions smaller. Plate consisted of a small lump of mashed potatoes and protein. Baked potato $8.00 upcharge and they ran out. Prime rib was medium rare cold when delivered. Manager returned with same cut after it had been boiled in the au jus to well done. Dining at the Chart House used to be a wonderful experience. Not sure if I will go back.

Terrible service!! We were a small party just three of us. It took forever before we saw our server. Once we did it took forever to get both our drink and dinner order. When my dinner arrived, I had ordered a medium rare steak, but it was medium well. It took over 30 minutes before my meal came back, so the rest of the group was done eating by the time I received my dinner. They did offer me an appetizer while I was waiting, but I knew I could eat an appetizer and my meal. They did comp us a cheese cake, but again I can't eat that much so someone else in my party ate it. I believe they should of just comped my meal, not all the extra's. I will never go back; there are just too many great restaurants in Dana Point to receive that kind of service at that price point.

What a great experience, starting off with an amazing view. The staff were awesome and the food out of this world. It was really an excellent dining experience and we will be back.

Server Tony was amazing and made our experience so special! Loved the patio! One of the best! Happy hour is lovely! Can't beat it. Get there early to get the best seat

The literal worst experience ever. Waited 1h20m for the food and then they brought the steak before the appetizer, while we saw other tables coming after us being served with the same meals we ordered. Then steak comes out, ordered medium, and got it well done, asked 3 times before manager came out, and he didnt seem to be any help at all, however offered another steak. Didnt even apologized for the delay. Never again….

The family had an incredible Father's Day dinner at Chart house in Dana Point. It was a busy day, but our server Heather was knowledgeable on the menu and her recommendations were spot on.She stop by quickly and checked us if we need something from time to time.A service excellence! Thanks Heather!
The Calamari and Coconut Crunchy Shrimp appetizers were a hit.Flavor was just perfect.
The main course was exquisite and cooked perfectly.
The desserts were all delicious.
The view was spectacular.
We had a great time and my two grand kiddos ( 8 & 13 yrs old ) couldn't agree more.Two thumbs up to the Chef ,team,and Heather!
Totally recommend this place.

The Set Menu deal is a great deal, with starter, entree and dessert just about the same price as an entree alone. Services was outstanding.

Awful service. We had two tables. Seated first. Second table seated second. Our drinks took 20++ to be out in. Wine came out Kate with dinner. Entire experience was a bust but it was a special occasion. We tried our best to pivot but your server was awful!!!!!!!!
