New owners changed everything. It's just another tourist spot now. They removed most of the sandwiches and have ice cream now.
I went here every week for years that I've worked in Dana Point and I guess that era is over. Dana Point is having an identity crisis and we're all paying for it.
Great deli in Dana Point, always good!

Based on the reviews, Tutor & Spunky's Deli is a great little sandwich shop and a staple in the Orange County area. It is the Cheers of sandwich shops, with a local proprietor and employees like Rosa who have been there over 25 years. The deli offers Squaw Bread as an option, and the Italian dressing is homemade and flavorful. The menu includes the Tutor’s Special with ham, capicolla, salami, and prosciutto, as well as a tasty Ruben pastrami and a delicious tuna sub. Some sandwiches, like the Teresa’s Touch, may have waterlogged turkey and tasteless avocado, but the Pasta salad is enjoyable. The food is delicious, with quality ingredients and good flavors. There is a fabulous view from the back patio and outside seating with a nice view of the water. The service is excellent, with kind people eager to make sandwiches with lots of love. The parking lot is a bit small, but there is usually space during off-peak times.
