We dine here quite frequently and it's always consistent with delicious food and great service. It's my favorite place to enjoy the crab salad, trout dip, ribs and drinks.

We usually sit at the Bar as there is only 2 of us and always get great service, but this night I took out a client and her husband and we sat in the Dining area. Our waitress seemed confused and maybe she was just new.....We ordered an Appetizer and Salads to come out at the same time before our dinner and I specifically asked if they could bring Appetizer and Salads first and then put our Dinner order in so it would not come out at the same time. Our Appetizer came out first, the Salads never came out and within a few minutes they brought our food out. We had only had our appetizer a few minutes so we did not have any time inbetween to ever enjoy the appetizer. She forgot the salads. As soon as our dinner was received they then brought the Salads out. We told her it is no longer needed since we now had our dinner to avoid it getting cold trying to eat the Salad first. She never came back to check if we needed drinks refilled or ordered so we had to stop someone to ask if we could order drinks to have with our dinner. The manager came out and apologized and said we would not be charged for the Salad. I just was not happy as I felt they were trying to hurry us through the dinner the entire time.

This is a great spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family. The atmosphere is comfortable, the menu has something for everyone, and the pacing of the service makes it easy to enjoy conversation.

I’ll be honest: I walked into Coastal Kitchen fully prepared to roll my eyes. The place looks like the kind of spot where the water has a backstory and the bill arrives wearing designer shoes. I was ready to declare it pretentious and overpriced before I even sat down.
And then… that jalapeño–cucumber margarita happened.
One sip and suddenly I’m rethinking my entire personality. It’s stupidly good. Perfect heat, crisp cucumber, dangerously smooth. The kind of drink that makes you forget you came in ready to judge and instead start plotting your next visit like a thirsty hypocrite.
The service? Surprisingly warm. The vibe? Relaxed without the “we only seat influencers” energy I expected.
So yeah, Coastal Kitchen won me over. I came in ready to hate it, and instead I left telling friends, “Okay, fine, it’s actually amazing.” If you’re anywhere near Dana Point, get the jalapeño–cucumber margarita. It’s the drink that will make you forgive the fact that you assumed this place was too fancy for its own good.

We have been coming here for a long time several times per month. Today we were informed they no longer split Martini’s which they have done forever. Not asking for two drinks just for them to split the same volume between two glasses. Seems pretty simple but apparently not. Very disappointing! Customers are what keep you in business and you just lost a loyal one. We spent a lot at your establishment not any more.

This is my second time coming here and the customer service from the hostess has been horrible. For whatever reason they act like they don’t want to help me. No greeting, no how may I help you, nothing. Not sure if it’s due to the color of my skin, but it sure does feel that way since I’ve been treated the same way both times I’ve been there.
Staff was very accommodating and friendly. There menu is diverse and quality that all of our guests had their favorite dish!!!! Great experience.

We had 5 of us and everything was great from the trout dip to the clam chowder to the crab cake salad! The ahi looked good as did the grouper and hamburger! Sorry we had no room for dessert even though we were celebrating two birthdays and the choices sounded wonderful!
