I wanted to eat at a local place instead of resort food, and I was not disappointed. The best tacos I've had. They also have a great spicy hot salsa.
The restaurant and adjacent cantina were very busy at 6:30 on a Thursday evening. Good balance of eat-in diners, order and take out, and third party pick ups. The line went quickly as well as food prep/delivery.
The next time I'm in town, i will definitely go back to try other dishes.

A local favorite in Dana Hills, Dana Point!
Lupe’s Mexican Eatery—and their adjoining Sidebar—has been a solid go-to in Dana Hills for about three years now, and it shows. The ceviche bowl was fresh and packed with flavor, and the carne asada burrito was excellent. I had a couple of Cadillac margaritas that were perfectly mixed. The Sidebar has a chill, upscale vibe with an impressive tequila lineup. Shoutout to Victor, the manager—super welcoming and clearly takes pride in the place. If you’re in the Dana Point area, this spot is definitely worth checking out!

The best burritos. The “Dana Point” is wrapped in a quesadilla.

Love this place when they get our orders correct 🌺🌊🐚

The good is pretty but nearly paying $20 for a burrito is not ideal. Especially when they’re putting less protein. I wanted a small side of fries, but I had to pay $7 for them, and the to go container is barely covering the bottom part. (No fries were eaten before this picture). Find yourself something more authentic and cheaper

I used to go here when they first opened up and the quality in food and service was always great. There were 3 front of house staff members standing around when I walked in and it took them a few minutes before realizing I was at the register (which, if you’re unaware, is clear-as-day as you walk in). Now I pay $17 for a California-style burrito which is nothing but fries, and barely any meat. This place is not what it used to be, absolute sell-outs and taking advantage of customers.

So I come in here regularly for the Lupe's & Cali burrito and it's always delicious. The employees at the front register are usually kind of .. blah , but nice. But I just had an awesome experience with the newer guy at the front register named David. He was extremely kind and helpful in letting me know about the option for another choice of protein that I wasn't aware of and he just had great service and energy. It's nice to see someone at a register make you feel welcome and seem to enjoy what they are doing. So I thank you David and Lupe's
