The food is good and the price is mid range, which makes sense for a student town. The fries were rather stale but ok. But my biggest complain is that the owner should invest a bit to make the restaurant more appealing. I truly lacks a bit of hygiene. The sun umbrellas outside are not all working or half working. The AC outside is dripping. The whole place could use a new layer of paint. Just overall it didn't make me feel comfortable eating there. And if the outside looks like that, I am not sure what I should think about the kitchen

It’s a decent spot, and the food tastes authentic. My friend and I had the chicken & rice combo. The chicken is cooked on a gyro machine, so the flavor and texture are a bit different from the typical “food cart” style chicken & rice — but it was still tasty.
The accompanying salad felt a bit rushed, with the veggies chopped into big, uneven pieces - wish they were cut into small pieces. That said, the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and a touch of cultural charm that adds to the experience. The restaurant is in a really good part of the town.

We stopped at Sam's for a late lunch on our way from Truckee to San Francisco. The portion sizes were huge, and the food was fresh and amazing! It was clear that love and care went into its preparation. Literally the best falafel and baklava I have ever had, and I have lived in the Middle East. My husband had shawarma, and he said it was equally awesome. The service was friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend!!

We spied Sam's while visiting UC-Davis, and had lunch. The large volume of the servings was as expected for a restaurant targeting college students, and was a very good value. The quality of the food and service was better than we expected; we had a Chicken Shawarma on Salad, and Hummus on Pita. Indoor and outdoor seating available. (Cool decor in the single restroom.)

Perfectly seasoned. Fries were not the best. I asked for extra crispy and they were redropped meaning they were already cooked and then dropped back into the oil. Greek salad was good. Service was amazing. Service was the best part of the experience. Dining room is clean and well-appointed. Definitely an Arabic theme. I like it.
I've been eating here for 20 years, ever since the old location. Never have i been disappointed! Thank you Sam for your consistency in quilty food and friendly service!!

Didn’t feel it was clean. Tables dirty, counter dirty Staff was congenial, but food seemed slapped together with little care. Ordered the chicken shawarma plate. The chicken was in flakes- wasn’t sure it was chicken!
