The food and drinks were delicious! My husband who is not a fan of Thai food even enjoyed the meal. Definitely going back next time I'm in Davis.

I usually welcome and trust Yelp reviews. However, I was thoroughly disappointed. We ordered the red snapper fish. The fish had been deep fried many hours previously and was cold and dry. The flavor of the accompanying vegetables was very good. It's a shame they didn't fry the fish fillets fresh. I mentioned it to two waiters/waitress, who were very polite and cordial, with a sincere "I'm so sorry" reply, but nothing was done.

YES and YES! The best, the VERY best Calamari Salad in all of the Sacramento/Davis area! I go out of my way to pick up a salad or stop in! The service is always awesome and always appreciated when I order a beer, the staff has to take a walk to get a beer! It's also fun to sit in the restaurant, small and cute place. Or you can sit outside too!

Food is delicious and the service for the most part is good too! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a new spot to try. Also, if bright lights are overwhelming to you, fear not! Sophia's has dim and soft lighting. You can still see but it is not at all uncomfortable.

This will be the last time I will be going to Sophia's. I've been going for over 20 years and this was our GO TO place in Davis for the past 10 years. The last 3 times we have visited the food has been a horrible. I don't know if it was sold or the chefs need to be replaced but it's not worth going to any longer. The noodles are overcooked, bland and broken the satay is very overcooked and tough and the fried rice is not even fried or properly mixed. It was mushy, waaayyyy underflavored and the meat was not even marinaded.I wish it would go back to the way it was but that's not going to happen. I'm afraid it's far too expensive to justify such bad food.So goodbye Sophia's! There are far too many good restaurants in Davis to visit your establishment again. If I could have I would have gone back tonight and RETURNED this food and gotten my money back.

We go to Sophia's every time we are in Davis. We try to go on Farmer's market days because the fresh spring rolls are so good. We have consistently loved the food, ambience in the outdoor patio, and friendly service.

I've heard mixed opinions about Sophia's Thai Kitchen--some people like it and some people like to hate on it. From a food perspective, a common opinion amongst Davisites is that the coconut milk is watered down. (I found the peanut sauce to be too sweet, but I recognize that I prefer savory peanut dishes.) From an atmosphere perspective, it is a fun spot. The restaurant and patio are maze-like so there are a lot of nooks and crannies. Ultimately, I think Sophia's shines in its drink menu, and has a respectable Thai menu with many vegetarian options.

Loved all these dishes in these photos! My favorite were the pad Thai, pad se ew, and calamari. I also liked how they had a variety of side spices. The portions were great as well. Came here for the drinks too but the drink we ordered was not too great, but that's fine it's about preferences. And not to mention the whole area was cute and cozy!

Last Thursday I met up with a good friend of mine to try this place out in downtown Davis! We've dined at various locations together, but we both wanted to try Sophia's. Lunch was a good time to come. It wasn't too busy, and most people were sitting in the covered patio area. We opted to sit inside and were seated right away. It was quiet inside and clean. My friend chose the pad Thai lunch special, which comes with a side salad and a veggie egg roll. For $14 it was a good portion size, and we both tried the noodles. They had a good wok flavor and the tofu was bouncy and chewy! We liked how many peanuts she got to sprinkle over her pad Thai. I chose the red curry noodles instead of a lunch special. You have a choice of red or green curry. For $18 it was a good size, a bit on the pricey side, but ultimately I could not finish my curry noodles and took some leftovers home. The curry was rich and I asked for the spice rack so I could put some chili flakes in the soup, which added another dimension to the flavor. There was a good amount of chicken and the veggies were all cooked perfectly, and had a good bite. The noodles were a bit clumped together, but the dish does come with wide rice noodles. However, they were not overcooked and still had a good mouthfeel to them. We both chose Thai tea and were pleasantly surprised to find that they offer unlimited refills, as long as you are sitting down. You cannot take unfinished Thai tea to go. For $4, the Thai tea was actually really good, and not watered down like some other restaurants'. Sophia's also offers beers and other alcoholic drinks, but we were there for lunch and as it was our first time, we just wanted to try the classic dishes. I would definitely come back with my husband and order a beer next time though. Overall, for downtown Davis, the price is on the higher side, but the service is fantastic, the glasses they use for water and drinks are very cool (they're shaped like bamboo trunks), the dishes that the food is served on are made of quality plastic, the takeout containers are some of the best I've seen, the food is pretty great, and I would like to come back and try their other dishes.
