Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had. The staff at the billing counter was extremely rude and aggressive. I had already left a tip on my first bill, but she insisted—almost forcefully—that we must pay a separate 15% tip on each individual bill. She started yelling at us and created a very uncomfortable scene, practically ready to start a fight over it. It was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I’ve never been treated like that at any restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The tomato and egg rice plate was so yummy. It tasted really fresh and flavorful. The egg custard bao was so fluffy and had just the right amount of sweetness. I would definitely recommend!

My wife and I have ordered take-out twice, splitting an order of a General's Chicken the first time and Mongolian Beef the second time. The General's Chicken was wonderful - light, crispy with a delicious, slightly sweet-tart flavor. It was obviously freshly made. Our second order of Mongolian Beef was just the opposite. It was a stew-like meal that seemed to have been on the back-burner a while. Everything was limp and greasy. Very disappointing. We do plan to return, but will ask for a meal that is fresh.

My husband and I ventured to Tasty Gourmet in hopes of a nice Chinese food experience. We ordered 3 dishes. The Mongolian beef was bland and the beef was unusually tender so I was sure that msg had been added. The sweet and sour pork dish was just ok, not much flavor. The chow mein noodles combo wasn't Fun at all. Thick noodles stuck together and beef that looked and tasted like beef tongue with no flavor at all. The worst of all was the little older lady who seemed to be managing the place. I asked her if we could order something else because this dish was not good. She started to badger us saying that you no like, something wrong, everybody like. But she kept saying this over amd over at least 5 times and it made us very uncomfortable. The place didn't even serve tea like most Chinese restaurants do. You can't get a beer or a glass of wine. The place is clean as advertised but I would NOT recommend this place for good tasty Chinese food. About 15 minutes after we left both of us had extremely dry mouths and our tongues were swollen...MSG for sure!

Best Chinese food in Davis! Tucked away from all the hustle and bustle, this is a hidden gem for the food alone (I suggest the chciken curry and potstickers), but then the added bonus of an owner who very clearly cares about her business and the community. In my 3 years now in Davis, I haven't found an owner who has been so personable and treats customers like family as much as she did, even taking moments to interact with our 6 month old. We felt as if we were eating right at home! We will 100% be back! The portions are generous as well!

Update 4/25/25… Something has definitely changed here. Chili wontons were very very sweet with a slightly off taste. Beef Bao were good but delivered with no sauce. The curry beef was just awful. Absolutely nothing redeeming about it at all. My prior review as accurate and glowing. My meal today was disappointing.
Delicious food. Very fresh with great flavor. Not overly salty or sauced- so you can actually taste the noodles, vegetables and meats. The owner? Is very sweet and accommodating. We ordered six items and all were excellent.
