The Melt is a great open-late spot in Davis with friendly, welcoming staff who are genuinely helpful and service oriented. The manager Shimmy is kind and took great care of customers. The food is filling and worth the price. One of the best burgers is the melt burger, which is cheesy and mouth watering with wagyu meat. The bread is surprisingly strong and not soggy. The spicy chicken sandwich loaded with lettuce, tomato, onions, and jalapeños is the best thing on the menu—spicy, tasty, and messy, so come with extra napkins. The sweet potato fries are salty and flavorful. The grilled chicken sandwich is tender and juicy, and the grilled chicken salad is amazing. The hot chocolate chip cookie dessert is a nice finish. The self service kiosk is a breeze, and food comes out extremely fast. The parking lot is undersized for the number of businesses in the mall, so plan to arrive early or come by bike.
