Very tasty food-- especially the tangerine beef-- and great customer service! Can't wait to go back!

Won't be going back. Recent reviews have been pretty mixed...good food but poor service. Thought I'd give it a try. All of the negative reviews about them forgetting stuff or getting orders wrong for delivery made me decide to do pickup so I could check the order before leaving the restaurant, which I did and the order was completely correct. My first concern came when my order was ready. I ordered at 5:16pm, and the text confirmation stated that my order would be ready between 5:40-5:45pm, which seemed very reasonable. However, at 5:24 I got a text saying that my order was ready for pickup. So, they cooked all of the meat, seasoned everything, got it all boxed up and ready for pickup in 8 minutes flat? No way. The only way my food was ready for pickup in only 8 minutes is if the food was all prepared in advance and was just sitting around. There's a name for that kind of food, it's called "fast food" and there's another fast food Chinese place nearby and I don't go there. After eating the food, it is clear that it is fast food and everything had been prepared well in advance. We got: -Hot and Sour Soup: Not hot and not sour. Very bland. Would definitely not recommend. -Ku Ting Crispy Chicken: Chicken was hard and tough. It had clearly been cooked some time earlier and was sitting out likely for hours. Very bad. -Moo Shi Pork: Very good. Pancakes were good (often very hard at some places), portion of moo shoo was okay. Vegetables and pork were good. -Walnut Shrimp: The shrimp texture was good despite having been cooked long ago and just sitting around. Good walnut shrimp is made with a reasonably small amount of home-made mayonnaise; unfortunately, Chin's Szechwan uses what seems to be big-box low-quality mayo and slathers it on. Had to wipe down the shrimp before we could eat them. The walnuts, however, were very good. Here's the thing, if I'm paying $20-$25 per entre, I expect that the food will be made when I order it so that it is fresh, hot, and with good texture. If I want pre-cooked, tough, greasy Chinese food, I can get that for a lot less money at the fast-food Chinese chain nearby. The food at Chin's Szechwan was truly no better than at the fast food Chinese chain, so I don't understand why anyone eats here.

Very average food, with very limited flavor profiles. Basically, you can get whichever protein you want prepared with one of about six sauces. Kind of disappointing. One positive thing for us was that we could choose what ingredients could be included in our fried rice (no much-hated cooked carrots), but then they put in ingredients not listed on the menu, so we had to eat much-hated bean sprouts . Service was very attentive and prompt. No complaints there.

We used to eat at the Chins in San Marcos back in the mid to late nineties. It was our all time favorite Chinese Restaurant. We are staying here in Del Mar and ordered "to go" at Chins just down the street. Food is still delicious as we ordered Honey Sesame Duo, Beef Chop Suey, and Pork Pot stickers. Pot stickers are still the best anywhere!

Just received a DoorDash order from Chin's Del Mar. We ordered Mushu pork it arrived with no tortillas or whatever you call them and ordered crab and cheese wontons which came with no sauce to dip in. It was $70 not exactly what I'm looking for.

I have ordered Door Dash from here before and found the food to be plentiful, hot, and very tasty. I finally had the opportunity to eat here in person. I ordered the lunch special of szechwan string beans. For less than $20 I not only received a large portion of green beans, but a big scoop of fried rice, egg drop soup, marinated cucumbers, a cheese wonton, a spring roll, a sliced orange, and the obligatory fortune cookie. The service from Angela was swift and very sweet. The owner greeted me and wished me a pleasant day on my way out, asking me to return. I will definitely take him to on that offer soon.By the way, there is a free parking area behind the little shopping center, making eating here very convenient.

I am so happy that I found a good Chinese food restaurant in Southern California. Chin's is among the best Chinese restaurants I have visited across the nation. I grew up on the East Coast, where my family would get Chinese food most weekends when I was a kid, and then I continued the habit as an adult. Then I moved to Southern California and was extremely disappointed in the Chinese food restaurants I dined in, as they ranged from mediocre to horrifically bad. With Chin's in Del Mar, however, I was delighted with the lunch special with chicken lo mein and sides of soup, sliced cucumber, spring roll, and a crispy appetizer. Everything was delicious, with the lo mein especially tasty. Memorably good! I was surprised that this awesome restaurant had few diners on a Sunday, but that could be because I got there early at 11:30 a.m. I only wish that there was a Chin's near where I live, as I don't get to Del Mar often with the drive there nearly 100 miles from my home. I would go there every week if there was a Chin's near where I live. I will go to Chin's every time I drive to the Del Mar area. I am already missing it! And so I will have to go Del Mar/San Diego more often. It's that good!

This is a very tiny restaurant. However, it has the same quality and flavor of the other North county Chin's locations I've tried. The dishes we ordered were rather flavorful, and the pork wontons are addicting! I look forward to coming back here!
