El Matador Mexican Restaurant

Absolutely one of the finest Mexican culinary experiences I've ever had.

My partner and I were fortunate enough to take a chance on this beautiful bright blue restaurant as we were looking for a place to dine after a day of relaxing at one of the local spa resorts.

We were quickly seated, and had the frozen margaritas, rimmed in Tajin, of course, shared the house chips and salsa, and then each of us ordered the quesabirria tacos.

It was easily, and by far the best Mexican cuisine I've ever had, anywhere in my life.

I simply cannot wait to come back. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was nice, and the service was lovely and attentive.

We are staying in Desert Hot Springs and looking for a mexican restaurant we found El Matador. The outside of the place is a little funky but the inside is very nice. I get a kick out of the cow outside since the name is El Matador. I had the chicken enchiladas and my wife had the birria carnitas. Both dishes were excellent and the service was top notch.

Such a huge disappointment and feel like I got scammed. Ordered two Carne Asada tacos and a medium side of rice with a large Horchata. The cashier showed me what a medium size container looked like, and I agreed to order the medium side of rice. I should’ve looked in the bag before leaving, but the same girl that took my order, also bagged up my order and she gave me a tiny little container of rice less than half the size of what I ordered but charge me for the medium side of rice. With tip I paid $23 for this meal. The tacos were actually small street tacos which I was really disappointed. Hardly any meat just mostly onions. The large Horchata was filled up to the rim of ice so there was hardly any Horchata in it. The food tasted bland. Definitely will not be coming here again or would not recommend.

Nachos, shrimp cocktail are excellent. We loved all of the food and the margaritas! Friendly people. Good service.

Nice with good food and friendly service. Our wait for our favorite was lengthy considering there weren't many other tables being waited. The steak fajitas were good.

The Fajitas are good. The chicken enchiladas are good. Sometimes the salsa. It's kinda hit and miss. The owner is great. The manager is great. They have a new server that suck. This is how i get my drinks. more than once. She is very slow.

Two ladies were on point with service, caldo de res was delicios and the salsa roja amazing flavor not too spicy, carne adada burrito juicy flavorful will come back any time!!

I’m very disappointed in my food and would rate it a solid 4. No flavor and the burrito was poorly put together. Don’t recommend and would rather buy del taco.
