“I have been eating at Mandarin Taste since I was 4 years old. Since when they used to have to polaroid pictures taped to the wall where you waited for your seat. Since the shopping center was a thriving place for business.
I have been gone from the area for years now, but I came home over the summer and after a shopping trip at Brea Mall, I craved some Szechwan beef and nostalgia. Upon walking in, we noticed some small changes. The polaroid pictures are gone (mines was up there!) but everything else was exactly the same. Including the staff. They have of course aged as we all have, but I remember them in their younger years. We ordered all our old favorites. The pu-pu platter, chow mein, fried rice, and Szechwan beef. All of it tasted exactly the way it did the last time we had it. The consistency of this place is insane and much appreciated. The service was good too. I don't have any issues with Mandarin Taste and we always had great food and a good time here over so many years. Graduations, births, birthdays, and job promotions. All celebrated here. It made me sad to see the shopping center as desolate as it was. In the 80's and 90's, it was a busy place and again, many memories being there. I'm glad to see that Mandarin Taste has been able to remain and among so much change, they have been able to stay the same. Thanks for the memories. Please support this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.“

“Service was fast and excellent, the ambiance was fascinating and really makes for a special evening, the drinks were so fun to watch them make, smoked drinks especially. The patio was large and lots of seating. The food was fresh and delicious. Great place for a date or night out with friends !“

“First time in and I love it. I guess we happened to be there on the 1 night a week they don’t have karaoke but was stoked to find they do happy hour all night on Monday. There was a comedy show going on and the crowd was awesome. Bartender was super nice. Drinks were stiff. We’ll definitely have to come back for karaoke.“

“Great place to go and forget about everyday problems. Bar crowd immediately welcomes you in and there are no status symbols or titles. Everyone is treated equal. Better than going to a therapist. Drinks are memorable with Casey or Randy (Owner) slinging the beverages. The bonus is you can bring in your own food. Whether it be a bag of chips or a fancy meal no judgement is there. Service animals are welcome too. Life is normal here and definitely I will be coming back to find a new happy space.“

We were intrigued because it occupies the same space as Supatra's, a spot we used to frequent years ago before the change in ownership. We called ahead to make a reservation and were seated promptly within a minute of our arrival. My wife follows a gluten-free vegan diet, and Thai food has always been a reliable choice for her. She called in advance to ensure options were available, and the staff was accommodating. Our server, Paul, was outstanding. He went above and beyond to ensure the kitchen was informed about my wife's dietary needs, making the experience seamless and stress-free. Here's what we ordered: Tom Kha Soup: Excellent, bursting with rich and vibrant flavors. Summer Rolls: My wife loved them--fresh and perfectly prepared. “The food was delicious, but the service left a little to be desired. It took a long time to serve. They didn't bring everything at once. The chilaquiles are supposed to have eggs. I told the waitress, and it took a long time to bring them, when the rest of the food was cold. Also, the chiles toreados, which are supposed to go with the food. Why would I want that when I've finished my meal? It took them more than seven minutes to bring a beer. It would be great if they could see how they could speed up the service. Perhaps that's where I found the most flaws.“

“Overall 4star at best. Went for a date night to experience the Dia de los muertos fixed menu and it was pretty underwhelming. Cocktails are great. Tacos are very good but too damn small. Guac is excellent. Chile relleno very good. Service was atrocious though. Servers were hustling but booked too many patrons with short staff. Owner apologized and made it right by giving us a gift card to come back, which we will. Most times we come service is good. May have been homecoming weekend or something, seemed like an unusually large crowd Saturday night.
Keep making tweeks with the staff, menu and food to get those ratings higher. You guys are on the most prominent corner in downtown you have to stand up to that challenge and be the best. Ambiance and decor have that wow factor now the food and service need to catch up. Good luck.“

“I wanted to gatekeep this SO BADLY but I may have just found the BEST quality handrolls in Orange County.

Took my mom to this super chic and modern handroll bar in Brea. The quality of each handroll was UNREAL.

Seriously, so hard to choose favorites, but I loooved the baked blue crab and A5 wagyu.

I also definitely recommend getting their rock shrimp tempura appetizer and fun mocktails that are so tasty.
