Went back this week and glad I did. Ordered a bento box, lots of tasty food and definitely worth the money. There was enough teriyaki for two meals. I'm accustomed to a different cut of meat for beef teriyaki so was surprised but enjoyed the flavor. LOVED the super crunchy not greasy tempura! I ordered to go so didn't each for about 15 mins. Tempura was crunchy to the last bite of the last piece! Also had the spicy salmon sushi, which I found quite good. I'll definitely go back and try other menu items. Staff was welcoming and kind. The sushi chef greeted each person as they arrived and thanked each when they left. Great service!

My review is for a to go order I placed on Yelp. I found the menu to be pretty extensive with lots of options and combos for various preferences. I ordered a bento box combination and it was a ton of food! My order was ready to by the time I drove there, about 10 minutes or so, was a very easy process. All the food was vert hot and crunchy even when I got it home. They supplied all of the sauces, condiments, utensils, everything you would need to enjoy your meal. Overall it was happy with the food and service. Would love to sit in and dine some time. Will definitely be returning to try more things!

Very fresh and tasty. My favorite is usually the chicken teriyaki bento box ?. This time, I tried the tofu bento box, and my brother had the beef teriyaki bento box. Both were absolutely exquisite!? Our server was very pleasant, and she went above and beyond.❤️Hats off to the chef, too!!!???? The only thing I would change is the music from the 70s & 80s Era to jazz because the restaurant is very clean, smooth, family oriented, and could be romantic, as well. What an affordable yet delicious sushi place. You place an order up front and you can either eat there or take out. Many people were waiting for takeout here but I decided to sit in. Here is what I tried.Sashimi Combo 16 pieces - Honestly was super delicious for $28. Came with tuna, salmon and two other fishes I'm not sure of but it was good. Quality was pretty good especially for the price. Comes on top a bed of lettuce, a side salad with dressing, and miso soups. Would get again. (5/5)Rainbow roll - A classic and nice fresh fish slices on top. It's solid and for $14 can't really complain. (4.5/5)Wouldn't come here if you're trying to go out for nice vibe. If you want solid fresh fish at an affordable price this is a must try. Yelp Checkin gives $1 Thai tea or milk tea. They come in a super large cup so it's pretty worth. Will be back!

This Japanese gem is located in a small strip mall in Duarte. It's small and a sign outside proclaims "Grand Opening", so I'm not sure how long it's been open. There is tons of parking, and even though the restaurant itself is small with only a handful of tables, it is not crowded. To say it's not fancy would be an understatement. It is like a mom and pop joint, with mom on the cashier and waiting tables, while pop does the sushi and cleans tables. There is no table service pretty much whatsoever. You order at the counter. You have to get your own water from a pitcher and stack of plastic cups. If you order a soda, you have to get it yourself from a soda machine behind the cash register. And if you have leftovers, you have to go grab your own container from the table with the water. I think that's also where the napkins and utensils are. Mom brings the food to your table. That's about it for service, though they are friendly enough. Just wish it was a full service restaurant. Also wish they had a liquor license so they could serve sake. Japanese food just isn't the same without sake.However, there is a lot they do right. Mainly, the portions, prices, and quality. I can't speak for the sushi, as I don't eat raw fish, but the cooked food was terrific and plentiful. The boy and I had the beef and chicken teriyaki plate, paying extra for white meat chicken. It was still cheap compared to any other restaurant, which made it all the more surprising by how much food there was on the plate. It was enough to share or make two meals out of by splitting it up. The beef is nicely presented in thin slices so it gets nice and well done the way I like it. We asked for the chicken well done and charred and it was perfectly cooked. Add rice and a large tasty salad on the plate and you get a lot for your money. The same can be said for the gigantic bento boxes. The missus got the chicken teriyaki bento with white meat chicken. Once again there was a giant pile of chicken. Also non-greasy mixed tempura and plenty of it. Another giant salad and big dollop of rice, along with four pieces of California roll. You're gonna wanna open your belt by one notch before eating, cause you're gonna be stuffed.Except for the lack of sake and wishing they had full waiter service, this place is really a gem. Definitely give it a try!
The people who work here are really nice, and they have wide variety of choices, which my kids love. My mom really likes coming here too. I couldn't give it 5 stars though because I wouldn't say it's the best Japanese food out there. It's the type of place where you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. I recommend Ume Special #1 for a good deal (Teriyaki chicken with salad). We will be back.

We ordered this afternoon thru Uber eats and it was delicious!! We had the chicken udon, the sashimi bowl and the spicy tuna hand roll! It was all so fresh and amazing quality food! It was our first time ordering from Umebana but I won't be our last! It was delicious, satisfying and all around great! Next time we will dine in!

Got Baked Salmon and volcano baked roll. Both baked to perfection. Staff is super friendly. Prices are very reasonable. I did a pick up order at the end of the night so restaurant was empty as it 5 mins before closing but they were still super patient and friendly. Highly recommend this place
