This place is a hidden gem! Some of the best food I've ever had in my life. And the people working there are some of the friendliest I've ever come across in the food industry. We will stop here every single time we go past Dunsmuir regardless of whether we've just eaten or not LOL The burgers are exquisite, the wings and ribs are fall off the bone and the fries are too tasty to stop eating

It was a dark and snowy night, and I was traveling through a winter storm with a bunch of teenage boys, so we stopped at the only Burger joint we could find at that hour...Yaks.
Google reviews averages 10 to 20 dollars per person. This is not true. The minimum cost for a meal is 20.00. Did you want a burger? You won't leave here without spending a minimum of 20.00 per burger. With 6 mouths to feed, we were surprised at the cost.
However, when the food arrived 30 minutes later on an order to go...it was clear that this was no ordinary burger. I got 2 meals out of my burger, and it was delicious. The boys were pleased.
The atmosphere is playful, the bathrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly.

I really enjoyed the ambience, creative menu, and easy on/off freeway location. I did not like my salad dressing or the wing sauce, but my partner loved the burger and it was sky-high with toppings and huge.

What really turned my wife and I sour on this place a couple weeks ago was the lack of service and lack of advertising of the lack of service.
Upon arriving, you place your order, pay - and they request a tip in the process; however, the only service provided was the making of the food. No one sat us, no one brought us our food, and we had to bus our own table (signs are posted after sitting down - not ahead of time). All of which isn't a big deal, but had I known all that when paying, I wouldn't have left a tip. I enjoy tipping, especially for good service, but tipping before the experience, not a fan.
The food used to be to die for here, but the burger was average and the fries meh, and for the price, both below average - place is pricey.
I used to talk this place up, not anymore.

The only food place in Dunsmuir and what a gem! The interior is cute, the burgers are fancy and plentiful, everything I got was delicious. Staff was friendly and fun, the perfect place to pull into during a snowstorm. Thanks guys!

Simply the best burger I've ever had with amazing fries. In addition, the portions were worthy of USA. You can also try the cinnamon roll which is excellent. Finally a great welcome with the very friendly gentleman at the counter
Yaks on the 5 in dunsmuir not to be confused with Yaks in Shasta City is one of the best burger places in Northern California.
I got the This Little Piggy burger (EXTRA PINK) and the crazy load of tots absolutely amazing. There was only one problem is that it was almost too much food.
The have quite the selection of beers on tap but, do you self a favor and order the Etna's ROOT BEER!
If you want the TRUE FIVE STAR EXPERIENCE , order it to go and drive 2 minutes up the road and eat it at Hedge Creek falls

Great burger spot along our road trip. Wish I did try some of the items they have on tap but gotta be safe! Highly recommend trying their sticky bun too while y'all are out here. Parking wasn't difficult. Outdoor seating available.
