Antojitos Guatemaltecos was definitely a great choice for me! I've never eaten Guatemalan food, and this was a great introduction. The veggie tamala was definitely good. It was served with an orange sauce on the base with onions and sour cream on top. It was light and had a slightly sweet taste. It was served hot. I mention that because some places don't have food that tastes hot. I also ordered the chicken empanadas. Yummy! The first bite shocked me! It was so flavorful. There was a lightness and a crisp crunch at the same time. My food was served with a spicy relish. It wasn't sweet. It tasted like pure heat. I didn't expect that strong of a kick. Use caution. But, use it. It added another layer of flavor to my food. I followed everything with a yellow cherry drink. It had a slightly pulpy base, but it didn't bother me. It was just sweet enough. The added bonus was the parking on the side of the building!Vegetarian options: There were vegetarian options, but it's not strictly vegetarian. You and your non-vegetarian friends can have a great meal.

Wow. Got to try three things, rice tamale, (with chx) the pork and potato tamale, and the Chile relleno. All the outstanding and very unique. Clearly their own recipes. Also was served with made in house tortillas that were like no tortilla I've had. Thick, cornmeal, very delicious.Only thing to watch out for, if you don't like spicy, is that the pork tamale had a serrano pepper inside. Very spicy don't eat the pepper if you're not into that kind of thing. But anyways, so very good. Highly recommended!!!

The food is deliciousBut I placed an order and the lady attended me with a bad gestureYou see bad service for herI liked going to eat with my husband and friends but I didn't like the attention he gave me and even worse I think it's the manager of that place who hurts with that character he scares the customers

This is my new favorite place. It was so good. I've only been here once but I'll definitely be going back. And it's only two blocks from where I live, so it's super convenient. But I'm sad now because I'm moving back to South Carolina and don't think that I'll be able to find Guatemalan food there. I'll be a regular here until I leave. I had the dobladas and the estofado de res, or beef stew, and both were delicious. The dobladas are like empanadas. The pastry isn't flaky like Argentinean empanadas, so they're a little different. They're plump with more stuffing than pastry. There are four in an order, and they come in beef, chicken, or vegetables. The meat stuffing was mixed with carrots and peas, which I liked. The woman taking my order said I could get a mix, so I got two chicken and two beef. Both were delicious. They came with sour cream, grated cheese and guacamole on the side. I don't understand the reviewer who said they lacked flavor. I thought they were very good. I'd order them again. I'd like to try the vegetable one, too. The estofado de res wa also very good, with chunks of tender beef, potato and carrots in a tomatoey gravy. It came with a scoop of rice and potato salad. My mother is from Spain, and the potato salad reminded me of the kind they make in Spain, with peas and carrots. I enjoyed it a lot. I got my order to go, and the ladies who work there gave me a complimentary cup of alote de etol, the warm sweet corn drink, while I waited. It was also very good. My food was ready so fast I had to take it to go. I didn't take any photos because I was too busy eating. I couldn't finish all of the food in one meal, so I saved about half of it for lunch the next day. I can't wait to try their other dishes soon :-) Ambience is casual. The dining area itself is small. Free parking in the back with a disabled spot at the front of the driveway. Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Price 4/5

If you never had Guatemalan food this is the best introduction. The empanadas were the best I've ever had, crispy outside and perfectly moist inside. The Guatemalan tamales were really good, creamy and moist with chunks of flavorful meat. Corn drink and rice drink were both really good! Will definitely come back!

Decided to try this restaurant after looking at the pictures on yelp and also because I've never had Guatemala food before. There is available parking at the rear of the restaurant but I parked in the available street parking. The restaurant was not busy when we came in, in fact we were the only customers. The host quickly sat us down and gave us menus. I ordered the Gancharas and my friend ordered the Dobladas. Unfortunately we were both pretty disappointed. Both of our meals lacked flavor and felt like something was missing. Our waitress gave us a spicy sauce, but that also lacked flavor and just tasted spicy. We left the restaurant feeling dissatisfied.

We had a fun experience here. The place is small and gets filled up fast so make backup plans. We ordered the churrasco chapin which comes with grilled beef, shrimps, rice, beans and a macaroni salad. The plate was enjoyable. We had also ordered two hot drinks -- arroz con leche and atole de haba. Both drinks were really sweet and can be avoided if you are not into sweet drinks. A coffee instead would be just fine. Also ordered churros which would have thrived more with chocolate than the cherry sauce. You can skip this as well. The place needs an update on interior decor to give a more Guatemalan feel but is very clean and cozy.
