With all the quality sushi places in El Cerrito, I am amazed this place gets good reviews. Because they don't answer their phone I was forced to place my order online. After waiting 40 minutes for an update that the order was ready for pickup, I drove to the place only to find my order inside. Cold tempura and mediocre sushi a sterling review definitely do not make. Terrible service made the matter worse!

While I didn't like the music, and my seafood sukiyaki had very little seafood: a crab, a few small pieces of squid, a small scallop, and a few small clams, the sukiyaki broth was beautiful and my other dishes were delicious. . . The best were: The mixed tempura was well prepared and the salmon teriyaki with house sauce was very tasty, so it gets four stars. And yes, I will be back.

Bento Box w/ Beef Teriyaki & California Roll I am so disgusted. I will never eat here again! As I was eating my food I first noticed the bug on my lettuce. It was still alive and moving. After further inspection, there was another bug crawling on my california rolls. This is so unappetizing to see, and shows they have no quality standards of food prep and handling. Beware when eating here!!!

Food is quite good. Have gone there several times. The downside is poor waiters. One can stand at entrance for 5 minutes before someone comes by to seat us. Entrees arrive so spread out, my aunt finished hers before my wife's arrived. She was done before I got mine. Then our sushi roll arrives at the end. And it was not as if the place was busy. We were the 3rd customers after the evening opening. Not quite sure what the TWO sushi chefs were doing. Needless to say, quite annoying.

Utterly frustrated and disappointed at this place. Decided to try this place out as there was a 50% off offer on a food delivery app. Ordered 10+ items and was told upon arrival to pick up my order that they had somehow mysteriously run out of fish, despite the restaurant being bustling with diners. This excuse seemed suspicious, especially considering the ongoing promotional offer on the food delivery app. To make matters worse, I ended up waiting for a whole hour to receive the two items out of all that I ordered that the restaurant said they can make. When asked why it took them more than an hour to make my order, the response was that they just set up the food delivery app tablet today. What a coincidence - running out of fish at a sushi restaurant and having food delivery app tablet issue. Will never be coming back.

Fresh and delicious sushi and sashimi. The gyoza is amazing. Great service and environment. Highly recommend.
A good choice if you want something quick and satisfying. I recommend the chicken katsu donburi. It's comforting, filling, and delicious. Sushi rolls were good, too... but don't expect humongous rolls. I can easily eat 3 rolls myself lol.

Try their bento box!Stopped in most recently for Valentine’s Day (also my mothers birthday)! Despite the pressure of being full with customers, the polite servers brought out every dish, giving my mom an amazing birthday dinner! We're still sitting here an hour after being sat, 40 minutes after ordering sushi. Out of the 6 tables here, we were sat 2nd and have yet to get our sushi rolls, yet everyone else has seemed to get theirs. Our kid received and has already finished his food. We have not had water refilled and that second sale we ordered hasn't made it to our table either. Focus more on dine in and less on to go.

Ducked in here on a rainy Sunday for a quick bite. It's a little gem of a place.Shisimi is fresh, very good quality, we had hamachi and salmon. The rolls were good. I really liked the chicken karaage.I enjoyed their over the top decorations, especially the Hello Kitty over the doorway to the kitchen.They have an unusually long menu, I got a chuckle out of the kids menu section. I have to google some of the references when I get home.On the way out, we saw a family with a little kid, the kid was wide eyed with the decorations....so much to look at. ?Oh...they have a card thing where you can collect stamps for a free roll. Ironically last night I was watching a K-Drama (My Demon) and saw a similar card in the show.The Fates must be messing with me again. ?
