“What a delightful place to stop and grab a delicious empanada or a boba drink. I just love the chicken adobo empanadas. The pastry is fresh, flaky, and crispy. The lightly spicy chicken and potato filling is tender and savory. So good. Be sure and try the house-made sweet chili sauce as well. For dessert, try the mango cheese cake empanada. It is tangy, fruity, rich with cream cheese and topped with a sugar-glazed crust. The prices are very affordable too!“

“Hizcafe is a wonderful spot in Hercules, perfectly located by the waterfront with beautiful bay views and a welcoming outdoor atmosphere. The shaded patio is dog-friendly and ideal for relaxing with a drink while enjoying the scenic surroundings.
The drink menu is excellent, offering a range of rich and robust coffee options—from classic espresso drinks to indulgent lattes and macchiatos. Tea lovers will find a nice selection of teas, and there are also refreshing cold beverages available. Every drink is crafted with care, making Hizcafe a great place to start your day or unwind in the afternoon.
While there’s no indoor seating, WiFi, or restrooms, the friendly staff and peaceful outdoor setting make Hizcafe a standout choice for anyone seeking quality drinks and a relaxing environment by the water.“

“The BEST homemade empanadas with a variety of flavors - the new poblano mole is to DIE for and they said a new birria flavor is coming soon! The staff is so nice and makes you feel like family as soon as you walk in - they also make pastries and fresh smoothies/juices that are delightful (no added sugars, super refreshing!) It's a small, cozy shop with outdoor and window seating right next to the stanford hospital so it's convenient for me. Will always come here when i'm in the area and get a dozen to take home for the week!“

“Nice corner cafe serving a wide variety of empanadas, sandwiches, and a few other baked goods. They offer a long menu of beverage options, including coffee, tea, smoothies, chocolate drinks, etc. I tried the mushroom empanada and harvest greens smoothie, which were good, but nothing special.
This cafe has a casual ambience with a low key vibe. There's a mishmash of tables & decor.
There's a large screen TV mounted on the wall that was playing a world cup soccer match fairly loudly, which most of the customers were watching. I'm not sure how often they have sports games playing, but when they do it's not a great spot for having a conversation or focusing on work or reading.“

“Amazing service from a place that actually cares about its workers and the food is delicious …got my coworkers hooked on their pastries and empanadas hehe …good veggie options … a very good assortment of teas… this place is a little hidden being back off the street, but it’s well worth the hunt and once you’ve found it you’ll be glad you did there’s a little private sitting area in front of the shop that’s surprisingly quiet for the area a perfect stop for lunch“
“This is a newer bakery in the area. It has a small parking lot. The inside has always been clean and the bread always looks and tastes fresh in addition to very neatly presented. My parents like it as well. The service has always been delivered with a smile. As far as the foods, I've only tried the tamales and they were good. The pudin is my favorite bakery item. 😋“

“Everything was wonderful. I had the cheese and loroco pupusa and a fried squash dish whose name I can’t remember. It was recommended by my Salvadoran nephew. He also loved everything. Others took home pastries for later.“
