I live in the Bay Area, but I always stop by here when I’m headed to Sacramento. My kids love it so much it’s hard to get them to leave! The staff is super welcoming—I felt my usual anxiety about being in public with kids melt away almost immediately.
My partner got an Americano he really enjoyed, and I had a hot matcha latte that was amazing. I love that they use brown sugar instead of syrup, and the matcha was perfectly balanced—not overdone like Starbucks.
I also picked up part of my book order, and they’re shipping the rest to me—so accommodating. I really wish we had a bookstore/coffee shop like this in my area. It’s such a gem!
I love the place is nice and quiet
Pros:
- cozy
- has fun events
- has a ton of books that are well organized, a good selection/variety, they'll order books for you, they seem reasonably priced, staff can help you/give recs, there are surprise books you can buy
- cute merch, local artists' work (jewelry, bookmarks, zines, art, etc)
- has coffee. has food. good.
- has great morals and is a wonderful part of a bunch of communities, social justice slay
- nice staff
Cons:
- events can be a bit loud, but they're still fun
- food is a bit expensive, but also that makes sense and it's still really cool.
Love. <3
I ordered the collectors edition of the perfect marriage it arrived fast. I love that they shipped to another state. If I’m ever in California I will stop by this shop
Great service, friendly people, but most importantly really good quality coffee. Hands down the best cappuccinos and lattes in Elk Grove.
A Seat at the Table is a wonderful local store. I have always been welcomed there, they have help answer all the questions I've had about books, and while they may not have the largest selection of in stock books they can order just about any book you can imagine.
They have also been welcoming to my entire family, rambunctious toddler, infant and spouse as well.
Cute book store with little coffee shop and play area for kids.
This place is so amazing, I wish more people would go there. Such a warm, welcoming environment. They have a place for the kids to be kids, they have a spot for those with sensory issues, their coffee is great and they constantly work up new concoctions that are inventive and delicious. If they don’t have a book you’re looking for, they are so helpful getting you what you want. Their staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. I try to bring my son as often as possible and they are so amazing with him even though he’s a rambunctious two year old! They’re also a safe place for those in the LGBTQ + family. I can’t recommend this place enough!
This is one of the best bookstores I've ever been to. Fabulous selection and excellent customer service.
A Seat At The Table is truly able to live up to their name. Every time I have visited over the last several months, it has been to a friendly welcome and some new product or selection of books to explore. They are constantly working with customers to make their experience a customized and satisfactory one. If they don't have what you are looking for, they are able to get it shipped to the store for you super quick. Definitely a more personalized and worthwhile experience than anything Amazon might even try to advertise to you. Nothing beats community, and here, all it takes to become a part of that is just to show up. They've got so many book clubs and events that you're sure to find something that suits your intrigue. Not to mention, their broad selection of syrups for drinks and unique rotating menu offerings is enough to keep you coming back even if you like to take your reading slow and don't always need a new book! Prefer to borrow books rather than buy? They've still got every book accessory you could ever need on hand, from bookmarks to book protectors. Trying to get back into reading? The booksellers here are happy to have a conversation with you about what it might be that you're looking for. I really believe in the mission of this unique Elk Grove spot and simply can't recommend this bookstore cafe enough!

This is a very cool bookstore and they have a coffee and tea set up and more with goodies and places to sit and read and all sorts of books loved the atmosphere
Really cool bookstore and cafe, go check it out!
My son and I love it here. We explore the books, pick something out, read it and take it home. There are so many fun options. He loves to play in the kid zone and I can rest and enjoy a yummy cup of coffee. We always have a meal there together too because there are so many delicious options for food. We’ve been to one kids read aloud which we really enjoyed as well!
Very welcoming space. The staff was incredibly helpful in giving recommendations, I got just what I needed (and more). I did have a little trouble knowing who to ask for said help and also felt bad having them leave the register to help me.
The most amazing bookstore in Elk Grove. Wifi provided, so it's easy to do work. In addition to books, they sell earrings, bracelets, candles, and good gifts like bookmarks, activity books, fun socks, and pens. The café is excellent. The benignets (probably spelled wrong) are fantastic treats.
This place has a lot to offer kids and families, teens, working professionals, and anyone looking for a local business to support.
