Feb 22, 2025 Family went there for 1st time to celebrate my 19-year-old grandson b- day. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the place is clean & pleasant. The food was delicious 😋 staff served our entire 12-party MENCHIE'S ice cream complimentary. Will be back .

Went in hungry with an open mind: the sashimi was all from medium grade frozen block, ample size portions, but the main source of confusion was the sushi rice itself. Given that the single most important ingredient in sushi is the rice, Ebisu falls short. Rolls are very popular here, and once covered in Teri sauce and shriracha mayo, it's tough to judge the rice as a stand alone. But, in the Nigiri items the ample portions of fish cannot compensate for, whatever that was posing for sushi rice. Grocery store sushi rice sets a basic standard: for which this rice clearly falls short of. Chili sauce and pickled Wasabi simply cannot make up for the fact that: this is Japanese inspired cuisine, and loosing sight of the foundation of this cuisine will cause otherwise decent ingredients to fall short. Fusion or confusion: not for me, but please decide for yourself.

EDIT Feb 2025: The menu is back! The California roll has the imitation crab mixed with kewpie mayo, the HW5 roll smelled like there was some light ponzu, the sesame chicken was a delight and the beef was fairly tender.
Original Post Nov 2024: We came here when it first opened and many times since and loved each visit. Today was different. The sesame chicken that we typically get was more dry and karage style, even daughters were complaining about it being tough to chew. The food also took a while to come out. I think some of this is due to changes in cooks. I'll give them one more chance to sort things out.

Perfect for those who want a soft ending to the night with a sushi dinner. The general atmosphere is great, it's never too busy and has just the right amount of people to feel that you can kick back and enjoy your meal. It's some of the best sushi i've had from the area. I think is sadly overlooked due to how the restaurant is tucked away in the back of a shopping center where Oz overshadows it. But for these reasons, overall i think it's my favorite sushi spot.

Our new go-to Japanese restaurant in Elk Grove! Excellent service, beautiful interior and plating, fresh and tasty fish. Everything was clean and service was great.
Highly recommend the nigiri: sake-toro and chu-toro were fresh and melt in your mouth.
The rolls were also great, not drowned in sauce and had a nice balance of flavors.
I would not get the chirashi bowl again though, only because I think the nigiri and rolls are just better options for your limited stomach space.

Excellent sushi with great presentation and a decent interior. In 2022 the servers/kitchen seem inexperienced and missed an item, and rice wasn't available for 2 others. When I went again in 2024, service is still slightly unpolished but everything else was good.

I’m hooked on Ebisu!! The rolls I had consisted of salmon & blue fin & they tasted like candy! The service was very friendly & parking is Ez! I highly recommend Ebisu!
