Showed up at 1:30, wasn't busy, but no one up front to seat you, tons of tables dirty with dishes. Worker rolls eyes when trying to ask questions. If they can't run the front of house, I'd fully expect the kitchen to be filthy and probably barely passing health standards. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else to eat. The filth of the dining area is only trumped by the rudeness of the staff in an incompetently ran restaurant.

I was very disappointed with my recent visit. From the beginning, we had to flag down the waitress just to place our order. When she finally came over, she was unfriendly, didn’t smile, and didn’t seem welcoming at all.
We were a party of four. One person received their food, and the rest of us waited for about 7 minutes before I had to stop another server to ask about the rest of our meals. Instead of listening, he talked over me and gave an excuse about the kitchen not being big enough. I tried to explain that I’ve dined here before and understood that, but that our previous experiences involved receiving food close together so we could bless our meal as a family. He continued to interrupt me, which was frustrating.
Eventually, he brought the rest of the food, and only then did our original waitress reappear—likely because she could tell I was upset. She later dropped the check on the table and asked about boxes. I politely told her to leave it and give us some space.
This visit left me very disappointed. The service was poor, and the staff did not make us feel welcome or cared for. Unfortunately, I won’t return to this establishment.

If you like soul food, this is the stop. Hands down the best soul food restaurant I've come across in a 100 miles. I had the privilege of dining at Emeril Lagasse's restaurant in New Orleans, and their food is on par with that. Juicy crispy fried chicken, moist delicious corn bread, mmm mmm!! Everything on the menu is delicious 😋.
Food came out quickly, good temperature but the fried chicken was overcooked. The biscuit was semi-hard around the edges even under the gravy. Nice portions.

We came in 20 minutes before closing and were greeted so sweetly by Esther. The food was incredible! We had shrimp and grits (perfectly seasoned and a generous portion) and the Lumch Rib special (tender, perfect smoke, and fantastic fries). The prices were great. We will be back. A man at another table and waffles and fried chicken... he said, yes, it was as good as it looked!

This restaurant in Elk Grove is a sister to the one on El Camino in Sacramento. It's medium sized, clean, and the food is delicious. That's most important. . Our meals came out quickly and were attractively presented. This spot for breakfast and lunch is a nice little find in Elk Grove.
