Ramen was delicious, and prices were fair. I definitely will come back again.

Was craving something warm and hearty since it's started to get cold and decided to check this place out. I called in my order for pickup and got the black Tonkatsu ramen and miso Tonkatsu ramen, both with pork. I had the miso, and only a taste of the black garlic broth (it wasn't really black, maybe they forgot the oil?), and the miso was a bit bland and watery compared to the black garlic broth. Where they really got me though was that chashu pork.... Mmmmmm!!!! It was sooooo flavorful, soooo good!!!!! I also really loved how they packaged the food for takeout: broth was wrapped up to prevent accidental leakage; and everything was super easy to assemble. 4 stars because while everything tasted good, the miso broth could definitely have been more flavorful in comparison. Look forward to trying more from Zen!!!

Saw this place while in the area. It's located between Beach Hit Deli and Nugget Market. Parking is a public lot. Stopped in around 6p, was seated within 3 minute. Quaint inside. Very cozy seating arrangements. Pretty packed night (there was a 10 person party seated toward the back). Reviewed the two page menu and within 10 minutes my server came to take the order. Tried the Sweet Mom, A Philly roll, black pork ramen, hot sake and the gyoza. Everything was good- a nice spot to grab a bite to eat.

Ramen and Sushi... both good choices! Nestled in the middle of the Laguna Promenade and Nugget shopping center in Elk Grove we stopped by this local restaurant for a quick, late dinner. With one hour left before closing time, we were able to be seated immediately as soon as we walked in. I ordered the Beef Teriyaki plate -- served with green salad, deep-fried potsticker, and rice. Food came promptly... actually faster than I could say 'sushi' LoL! The ratio of meat to rice was proportioned and just right. The beef was juicy and tasty and the whole meal was very good. Service was quick as I already had mentioned and the server was nice and attentive. Overall, a pleasant first time dining experience here. The restaurant is a modest size and is very clean. Located in the most strategic intersection in the Laguna West. I'm looking forward to returning to try their ramen! You can choose the spice level from Mild, to Medium, to Very Spicy. The sushi selection is another story... lots of rolls to choose from! Would be hard to choose! Wish I was closer to this place... Review #2427

Great Ramen! I ordered To Go, they were fast, and accurate and delicious! Never going to Kotteri again, literally half the price for better flavor here!!!

I honestly feel bad leaving a 1 star review but I am so disappointed that my husband and I just wasted $60 on a meal that was so underwhelming and the service was bad. We ordered the calamari which was below average, a sushi something Mami roll that tasted only of torch (some burnt Smokey flavor) that the server recommended, my husband ordered the seafood ramen and I ordered a chicken ramen. We each started feeling our stomachs getting upset after only a few bites of the sushi roll and couldn't even finish half of our ramen before just saying it wasn't good. Mine had zero flavor with chewy chicken and he said my husbands stomach was upset and he couldn't finish his seafood ramen. We were still hungry after leaving but lost our appetites and felt sick. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone.

It gets the job done. I thought the California Roll was a little warm and the rice was too soft. I also had the Shoyu Ramen. They gave plenty of bamboo shoots (great!) but I noticed that the the noodles were really soft compared to other dedicated ramen restaurants. Chashu was also a little dry.

This place has the best ramen in town hands down. Delicious food, they even have options for beef ramen.

This is our go to spot when we don't know where to eat or what to eat because it never disappoints. Zen has good sushi and ramen that I don't complain about. Definitely recommend.

Updated review. We stopped by last night for dinner. Surprisingly quiet for a Friday night with only two other tables when we arrived and no customers after we left at about 8 pm. The good. I had the chirashi bowl which was very good. Solid amount of four different types of fish over rice. The fish was fresh and tasty. Well worth the $18 price. The pretty good. Wife and two sons had ramen and everyone enjoyed them. Wife noted that the tonkatsu black was a bit salty and so did not finish all of the soup. I tried my son's pork miso ramen's soup which was pretty good. The bad. My middle kid had the teriyaki chicken rice plate. Small serving and the chicken did not have the grill marks that I normally associate with teriyaki chicken. It just looked small and bland. Service was fine. Friendly and attentive. Four stars for the chirashi, 3-1/2 stars for the ramen and maybe 1-1/2 stars for the rice plate. Probably a bit better for three stars overall, but not good enough to round up.
