This inn and view cozy French restaurant (SIBO) are the best kept cozy romantic secret escape on the Mendocino coast. We stayed in the exquisitely located L.E. White suite, with a king bed, old period furniture, high ceilings, spacious bathroom (separate jacuzzi tub and shower), balcony with gorgeous ocean view , mini-fridge, Keurig, and microwave. A welcome basket of wine and other goodies is included. But don't miss the restaurant (nothing in Mendocino is better). Anything you order (there are many choices, you select them in advance), will be beautifully prepared and served with a friendly smile. The beach below is lovely when the tide is out, as are the nearby wineries you can visit and redwood forests you can get lost in. Breakfast will be brought to your room.

My husband and I were lucky enough to find this gem of a restaurant on a little getaway for Valentine’s Day. The ambiance, service, and food was absolutely out of this world. The entire evening is a memory that we will hold dear for years to come. From start to finish the experience was a 10/10. Thank you again so much, we will most definitely be back!

Such a special, magical place and the owners, Melissa and Victor are as nice and helpful as can be. I almost hesitate to write a review, because I don't want others to know about this hidden gem ;). Definitely recommend.

This review is for the restaurant there - was a wonderful meal! Great service, amazing portions and quality. The escargot was some of the best we've ever had too. Fantastic French style food. We had the duck and paella.

Food, service and ambiance, all great! This Thanksgiving was our 4th. stay at Elk Cove Inn. Our Thanksgiving meal was the best and most varied we have ever had. We like SurfSong as our favorite cottage. The view from the large windows is of the beach and sound of the surf lulls us to sleep each night. The staff feels more like family to us now. We have already told many of our friends about this lovely place to stay. Len and Kit T.

My husband surprised me with a night at the Elk Cove Inn for my birthday. It surpassed ALL expectation's. It's a beautiful location with access to the beach plus a wonderful old style charm that I love. It's intimate, rustic and beautiful. The Inn has 18 rooms/cottages or suites to choose from. We had the Bavarian Cottage and had a postcard view of the ocean. Wood burning stove, gift basket with local wine, sherry and chocolates awaited us upon arrival. The wine hour on the deck with local wines and cheese plus a warm fire to curl up to was another added benefit. BUT our dinner was amazing! Local sourced fish and home grown vegetables outstanding. Manager Melissa was as charming as the Inn...full of grace and attentiveness. We already made reservations for April!

Beautiful views of the beach and the ocean from the room, beautiful landscaping, and easy beach access down a staircase. Breakfast was delivered to the room and it was beyond tasty - pork belly and kimchi was outstanding as was the brouillette and the potato casserole. And the dinner was outstanding! Don't forget to order ahead. The room was super comfortable - loved the big tub and the massive shower with great water pressure. We absolutely cannot wait to go back again.

When you first pull onto the property, you'll see the beautiful landscaping. And I don't just mean a few flowers - I mean they have a full, colorful garden that you walk through and enjoy. There's also a deck for you to sit, eat a picnic, play cards, or whatever you like while you enjoy the views. The gazebo is also a great, romantic spot on property to watch the sunset while drinking a nice glass of wine from one of the many local wineries. After getting checked in and meeting Bella (one of the unofficial mascot dogs), I was shown my suite. Now, I will tell you - and the owners agree - that this is not 5 star accommodations. If you're looking for the most modern of spaces to lay your head, this isn't it. But what you will find is a clean, eclectic space that's made up of thrift store furniture and meaningful touches. For instance, the suites are each named after a local historical figure from Mendocino County. And on the wall, you'll find a little information about that person and their contributions to the area. A lot of thought has gone into making these suites your home away from home, but the best part by far is the view. Right outside your window, or stepping out on your balcony, you see the stunning cliffs of the Northern California coast as far as the eye can see of the Pacific Ocean. It's breath-taking. And that sunset - oh man, it's absolutely mesmerizing. Melissa and Victor are the heart and soul of the Elk Cove Inn & Spa, and they were the best part of this stay for me. I so admire the way they lovingly care for their staff, animals, and the people they serve. Their commitment to the ingredients they use, the people they employ from the community, and their work ethic is unmatched. And they serve every single guest with a genuine smile and compassion. They truly want you to enjoy your stay - you're not just another line item for them.

From the moment that we stepped into the Sibo restaurant, we knew that we were going to experience something special! I was greeted by my name when we walked in and was very impressed by the quaint intimacy of the restaurant. There were approximately 10 tables each enjoying the special attention given by the server/co-owner, Melissa. She was especially knowledgeable about the wines offered with our meal. The food was most delicious with ample serving sizes. The flavors were amazing, thanks to Chef Victor! It was a menu to die for! It was a lovely time enjoying a delicious meal while soaking in the beautiful ocean views. Very romantic, memorable experience that I’d definitely recommend for any special life event.

Fabulous, very private, very quiet, very luxurious spot right on the coast, with a great little restaurant.
