While the portions used to be more generous, I've noticed they've become smaller recently :(

Deluxe chicken Katsu is the best ;) two people portion. This is by far the closest taste to what I ate in Japan and Hawaii. I wish they have their own front shop so we can eat them when it really hot and crispy ? keep up the good work.

Got the chicken Katsu take out. Meat was absolutely tender, the breading is out of this world. Probably the best katsu I've ever

The Chicken Katsu and Pork Katsu are fried to perfection; I've had katsu at over 40 restaurants in the Bay Area, Japan, and Hawaii, and these are among the best in terms of texture and crunch. Unfortunately, it isn't very flavorful.I picked up this order from a ghost kitchen location.

I didn't get to try this restaurant in person as my friend ordered door dash for us. We had an event to go to so the food sat for a bit, but even with a couple hours' wait it was still soooo tasty and delicious, I can't wait to try again when it's fresh. We ordered the deluxe Katsu and it was perfect for two, with large portions! The katsu, rice, salad, and potato salad combo was perfect. I especially loved the katsu sauce and the dressing for the salad. It also came with a miso soup that was perfect for the rainy day!

My friends said it was the BEST katsu and they were right!!! After taking it over to my place the pork was still warm and crispy. I will definitely be stopping by soon! And to the people complaining, DUH, it’s a ghost kitchen. Get over it. Not all businesses can’t have or want a brick & mortar. No smashed windows with ghost kitchens.

Please beware that this is not an actual storefront, as it's part of a ghost kitchen where many other restaurants also operate out of. I was not aware of this and was surprised to find a narrow hallway with lockers and nobody to greet me upon entering. I ordered on the tablet and I believe some of the pictures are wrong, as the pork tenderloin option seemed to resemble the loin option. This resulted in me not getting the kind of cut I wanted. It took 15-20 min to get my food. When I got the text saying it was ready there was nobody at the counter to give it to me and I had to knock on the wall to get someone's attention. The employees at the ghost kitchen are not the most professional. On the positive side, the food is quite solid and the katsu is very crispy. Meat quality is good, but nothing mind-blowing. The cheese katsu option only comes with 4 pieces, which seemed a bit light given the price. Unfortunately my overall experience wasn't great and I won't be returning. If this got turned into an actual brick and mortar restaurant I think I would've enjoyed it much more.

Jungdon is a ghost kitchen, and it's an emeryville hidden gem! The chicken curry is a flavor explosion that left my taste buds dancing. What truly impressed me was the generous serving size - it's so substantial that the price is completely justified. A delightful experience for any curry lover!

Ok so I'm not a big katsu fan BUT this place somehow made me love it. The crispyness of the katsu is unique - it feels very light and airy. The shaved cabbage with their house sauce is also so delicious and addicting. I could eat like a whole bowl of that sauce. I sub rice for more of the salad because it pairs so well/cuts through the katsu. Really great balance of flavors and huge portions!Keep in mind it's only take out so you can order ahead and pick up. Surprisingly whatever they're doing works because even when you bring it home after 15-30 mins it still keeps its crispy texture!

I wondered why pork katsu was more expensive than other places. But when I got it it was enough food for two people. Two crispy, tender filet and well worth it. Will be back to try other things.

So my review is based on the food, how it tasted and it's presentation was authentic and delicious. I personally just have a issue with table salt or particular seasonings and I guess they use a seasoning I'm allergic to, so I can't eat there regularly at all. I ended up swelling up pretty bad and had to lay down for the rest of the evening due to the inflammation. The rice was perfectly cooked otherwise and the pork was tender and flavorful. I do wish they used a fattier cut of meat as an option though. I've never had Japanese potato salad before and saw a content creator making it on YouTube and always wanted to try it one day. It was unique and delicious. I enjoyed everything I got, taste wise until the side effects kicked in. Thank you, just wished I wasn't allergic to whatever ingredient caused the swelling and inflammation.

Ordered through doordash and only was able to order the pork katsu. We ordered a few dishes to share and did not diss appoint. They give out lot of rice lol. The pieces of Katsu was also pretty big. At first thought the price was a little high but for the quantity you get, you can fit a family of 3-4. Everything was yummy except the cheese katsu.. that one was just cheese balls . When it says cheese katsu made me think was a tonkatsu with cheese filling ... But overall is pretty good!

Jungdon Katsu operates out of a ghost kitchen at Longfellow Foodhall. For this reason, it can be easy to discount Jungdon as some place that serves mediocre food. When I showed up to pick up my to-go order, the food hall was in utter chaos: the small pick-up room was packed with Uber Eat, Doordash, Grubhub, etc. drivers waiting around to pick-up their orders for their customers. Despite the chaos, I managed to pick-up my order at exactly the estimated time.I ordered the Deluxe Anshim Katsu -- a double order of their pork tenderloin breaded cutlet, served on a massive bed of rice, with cabbage salad & Japanese-style potato salad on the side, along with some miso soup. The portion was absolutely massive. Priced at $28, it feels expensive when you place your order but the portion you get is easy enough for 2 to share for two meals. The start of the show -- the katsu, is well-fried: the cutlet is cooked-through, juicy, and the outside is crunchy without being oily. There are two containers of katsu sauce included, though the sauce is more more vinegary than I'm used to. I wish there was some kewpie mayo or other kind of dressing on the shredded bed of lettuce, but I see now after the fact that that's an add-on option for $2.Overall, the katsu here is spectacular. I would definitely stop by again. Great value given how large the meal is.
