My girlfriend picked this place to celebrate my birthday. We started with the momos, which were decent, but for the main course, we tried their popular Amritsari chole and kulchas. The kulchas were tasty, but the chole didn't live up to the hype - the whole spices in the dish were overpowering and tough on my stomach. Overall, we felt it wasn't worth the 50-minute drive (from San Jose) for what turned out to be a pretty average meal.

There were flies inside the restaurant. Not a pleasant dining experience when you are swatting flies away.
Vada pav was best i had in the US. Ghevar was mind blowingly good. Rest food was mediocre at best.
Service was top notch though. Very nice staff, super friendly.

We had the chicken biriyani and litti chokha. Its really good. They are very close to the authentic taste. The chicken biriyani here is lucknow style which is a bit rare to find in the east bay. Irrespective of that detail, the biriyani is really amazing.
Portions and service, really good.
p.s: if you get a patio seat on a sunny day, you get a nice view of the bay and the Golden Gate bridge.

Excellent! The food, vibe and service are all outstanding.
I tried the litti chokha, pippal daal, momos, vada pav and malai kulfi. Everything was delicious. The malai kulfi especially is worth the visit itself.
The only improvement they could make is to make the food less spicy.

We came here to celebrate a friend’s 50th birthday and were blown away by the food and down to earth and attentive service. Arvind was a superstar. The staff handled our group of 40 or so with a cheerful disposition and good humor even as the restaurant was full. Every dish was delicious even though they came from different regions ( saag, idli, momos for example) and served creatively. Cocktails were amazing too. Our whole group thoroughly enjoyed this experience!! Thank you Arvind & team!

Overpriced and average food. If you have the white narrative of what desi taste is you might like it, but not for people with authentic desi taste buds. Ambience and vibe is good though.

Ordered Litti Chokha - it was good (a bit sour).
Ordered - tulsi ke kabab - below average. Not crispy at all and spicy. Also they blundered in first place and served Non vegetarian kebab. Overall average first experience.

When I grow up I want to be a cocktail lounge kind of place. Mediocre at best taste and way overpriced.

I had an exceptional dining experience that truly stood out! The Chicken Momos was bursting with flavor, and the Chapli Kebab was perfectly cooked, simply excellent. The Prawn Pepper Fry was seasoned to perfection, and the Pesto Kebab brought a refreshing twist with its unique taste. The highlight of the evening was the cooker Auha Mutton, packed with rich, whole flavors. Chef Munish Rana took the time to explain the intricate preparation of each dish, showing his expertise and passion, which made the experience even more special. We ended with a delightful Kulfi dessert, a perfect sweet note to finish the meal.
A big shout out to Mr. Arvind for the exceptional service friendly, attentive, and truly made us feel welcome. This kind of service, along with the fantastic food, guarantees I’ll be visiting again. A well deserved 5 star experience!

If you are considering to visit this place. Go no further on your Google search!!! I am a visiting student from India, and my way to deal with homesickness has been trying out Indian food across the Bay Area. Indian food in America is tampered to cater to the American palette (understandable), so I often seek Indian food here with a pinch of salt as everything tastes like a permutation and combination of “Chicken Tikka Masala”.
BUT THIS PLACE was a gastronomic orgasm. They have a very curated menu which includes dishes from various regions of India: Litti Chokha from Bihar, Vada Pav from Maharashtra, Chicken Dak Bungalow from West Bengal …. you get the point.
The thing that made this place stand out is their culinary ability to retain the regional specific flavours of India’s culinary geographies. The Baigan (eggplant) ka Bharta was cooked in mustard oil while a generous serving of ghee was given to dip the “litti” in. The blend of flavours will really take you back to the streets of Bihar in a winter night. For mains, we ordered the Chicken Dak Bungalow and we were pleasantly surprised that it did not taste like a bad iteration of butter chicken. You would be able to taste the specific aromatic spices (like dalchini, badi elachi) in the slowly cooked chicken gravy. I was really transported back to a Bengali household for a moment.
If you like authentic Indian food. YOU HAVE TO GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY.
P.S. As much as I would have liked it. It is not a paid collaboration. Though I did take some extra mini chocolates while leaving ?.

Dined at Pippal twice over a weekend, once for lunch with girlfriends and another for dinner with my family. Each time, the exoerience was very memorable. Starting with the beautiful space, mural and view of the water from our table on the patio, to the mini idli with falvorful chuutneys. The fryums are an emotion and I am glad we tried them. The channa, fish/shrimp curry and biriyani were tasty. I am happy that this is close by.
