The staff is wonderful—alert, courteous, and engaging. However, the litti choka was a bit disappointing. It’s baked rather than grilled over charcoal, which makes it hard to bite into and takes away from the authentic texture. Traditionally, litti should have a firm yet moist bite that comes from slow charcoal roasting—something that was missing here.

We’ve been here three times and food has been excellent every time. They seem so change their menu every few months which is great and there’s lots of variety on the menu. We appreciate that Pippal serves very authentic dishes that you will not find at a typical Indian restaurant. Dishes we have liked so far: vada pav sliders, beetroot kebabs, baingan bharta, kadhi pakoda, baingan mirchi salaan, amritsari kulcha and of course the pippal daal is a must-get for us every time. Their Kerala backwater cocktail is savory, spicy and delicious.
Everything is spiced really well and is not oily. Portions appear small but are packed and very filling - we always end up with leftovers to take home. And yes, prices feel high but that’s the case at any nice Bay Area restaurant.
Definitely recommend if you want to experience an upscale Indian restaurant with unique and high quality food offerings.

We ordered beetroot kebab, achari paneer tikka, and fish amritsari for appetizers, followed by vegetarian jalfrezi with butter naan for mains. Every dish was delicious, well-prepared, and full of flavor. The drinks were excellent (special mention to the coffee brew drink.. forgot the name), and the service was attentive and friendly. A wonderful dining experience overall!

The location is perfect for eating and then seeing a movie, and the food is tender and fantastic!
The drink menu has classic favorites AND new mixes that are fun and interesting.
Upscale Indian food done very well with great service. I definitely recommend it and I would have posted more photos, but the lamb was too delicious to wait for pictures.

Beautifully decorated, spacious and light filled dining area and bar with fireplace on the patio.
Attentive and patient service.
Great food: complex spiced sauces were amazing.
Both vegetarian and carnivore choices were very good. An upscale restaurant.

The food and drinks are mediocre and the prices definitely don’t match the quality. We paid $300+ for 6 people and we left unsatisfied. The pipal daal was so salty and Chanas had a weird taste so we had to send both back. In the drinks (kulhad one esp) flavors dint go well together. What worked were the apps, Amritsari fish was good. Service wasn’t up to the level either, they dint know what gluten was and called wheat roti as gf! I wouldn’t recommend this place as it’s expensive to dine in and dishes ain’t tasty.
It was excellent

Sophisticated Experience at Pippal. We started off seating Al-Fresco to enjoy the sunset atmosphere while having the stylish cocktails and then settled inside a cozy corner with plush decor to slowly enjoy the soothing ambiance for the main meal. The hosts were unhurried, attentive and knowledgeable about the various choices at hand and the presentation of the food was commendable. The Bihari Lamb Chops were my favorite. Also nice was the Pippal Dal which was nicely smoky with lovely Ghee. The Mango Alleppey Fish & Prawn Curry and the Anda Curry were superlative to the senses and were quite a delight. The kulfi falooda was uniquely done and presented and we all shared that one dessert amongst our party. All in All, a very nice experience especially while driving back on a Sunday from the Sonoma Coast and a good way to end a weekend full of adventure.
