During the Before (COVID-19) Times, I would meet friends and grab a drink (or 2) here. The space is small, but very cute and cozy. I would order a sake flight, in order to try different drinks that I couldn't find in non-Japanese bars. And for a small establishment, they had a very large list to choose from, including beers on tap and in cans/bottles, wine, Japanese whiskeys and, of course, sake. Very bad customer service. I sat inside of Periodic Table because the Public Market was full. The owner/ bartender HIROKO asked if I was going to order a drink, I told her "Not yet." Right before I was able to ask for a menu, she told me that I couldn't be there. I was the only potential customer in there and after that exchange, I never will be. During the late afternoon I found myself walking around the Emeryville Public Market, deciding if I was hungry enough for a large snack or a small meal. As I meandered about, I passed The Periodic Table. Initially I dismissed it as some small random bar, but a sign caught my eye - 20% off shochu on Tuesdays.
