A haiku for the Breakfast Republic blues: Bland potato plop Meager toast and jam 4 u Too cold for comfort

Came here for brunch and immediately was sat. Our server was kind and helpful in food recommendations. I Loved the atmosphere because it felt very traditional and homey. The jambalaya was absolutely amazing and I didn't expect it to be so good for a breakfast spot. The French toast was perfect to satisfy my sweet tooth. Overall I had a really pleasant experience and would definitely go back to try out more dishes.

TLDR: All in all this location is just the absolute worst breakfast republic. The food wasn't that good. The server was absent minded (misheard our order and forgot 2 of 4 drinks). I love Breakfast Republic. I always recommend it to people for brunch but this Encinitas location is terrible. Food: the pancakes were solid. They always are. However the potatoes that came with my omelette were all dried up end pieces. There was a very generous portion but of the 50 pieces, there were maybe 4 cubes of potatoes and the rest was dried up edges. I definitely got the last of the batch. The side of bacon was just sad. It was the thinnest sliced bacon ever. Service: it was awful given we went on a Thursday morning and there weren't many customers. There were maybe 3 or 4 other tables besides ours and everyone at those other tables was always looking for a server. We also didn't get 2 of 4 of our drinks. We thought they would come eventually but they never did, so I asked the server to forget them towards the end of the meal. On the receipt it said that the cutomer returned the oj and the lemonade. To be more accurate, it should say "server never brought to the table." Also I ordered the $8 fruit plate but what came was a tiny plate with 4 thin apple slices, 4 pieces of mandarin and maybe 1/4 cup of pomegranate seeds. I was stunned so I asked the server, that is the $8 fruit plate? And he was like, no this is just a side of fruit. And then....again no fruit plate showed up. Then when I get the check? I saw that it was a $4 side of fruit. The fact that they charged $4 is ridiculous for the small amount of fruit but it was doubly ridiculous since I ordered something different. I didn't even know you could order a side of fruit. I didn't even see it on the menu. To make matters worse, our server then argued I ordered the side of fruit but then I countered that I actually ordered the fruit plate, and that is why I asked "this is the $8 fruit plate?" Then he was suddenly apologetic....

So good! Service is usually pretty quick. The breakfast potatoes are really good and the portions are large. Only reason I don't give 5 stars is because last time I visited our waiter was kissing another table's butt and ignoring us (the guests at that table looked rich given the designer bags and unreasonable amount of fillers and Botox in their faces). This couple arrived 15 minutes after us, yet they received their drinks and food before us. The server literally took their orders before even greeting us. He knew we were there too, just blatantly ignored us to make sure the housewives were happy :/

Just Visiting

The day before Easter, 2024, was a train wreck for the staff at Breakfast Republic. We got there early and had almost our choice of tables. Only 5 or 6 other tables already eating, so their failure wasn't due to it being too busy. Service was terrible. They didn't bring one of four meals, so my 7 year old daughter just say there patiently waiting. Our server stopped by 8 minutes later and said, "they didn't bring it yet?" So the three of us pitched in and gave her part of our breakfasts. That was the last we saw our server. I got the impression he was a little embarrassed. And the lady at the table beside us threw a fit because her scrambled eggs were "burned", so he had to give that table extra care and feeding.I'd say they were just overwhelmed, but it wasn't busy by their standards. Just lackluster serving by a guy who clearly didn't care to be there. The food was just so-so. We asked for our bacon to be extra crispy, and they did a fantastic job on that. I had to hunt another guy down so we could ask for a to-go box. Then about ten minutes later I gave up and hunted a second guy down to ask for our check. The North County area has some competition in this space, so we don't plan on going back. If you live right around the corner, maybe this place is worth your time. The boozy coffee shot is great, but not a good enough draw in itself to warrant suffering through the painful service and mediocre food. The best thing about this restaurant by far was the sign with the excellent quotes. Just had breakfast at Breakfast Republic and it was fantastic! The atmosphere was lively and fun, and the food was delicious. The menu had so many creative options, and everything we tried was amazing. Plus, the service was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back!

Chloe the Bar Manager is absolutely amazing!!!! She is on top of EVERYTHING!!!! She knew what everyone needed before they even asked! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHEN CHLOE is working because I l know that I will have incredible service and exactly what I want to eat and drink! The restaurant is amazing but Chloe brings it to a whole other level!

The pancakes were fluffy and tasty. The American breakfast was maybe a two star. Not quality bacon, my over medium eggs were runny and my one slice of toast was as big as my palm, small. Like a lot of restaurants they don't have enough help. My husband never got his coffee.

The Fricks

I enjoyed my meal until they snuck in the 4% service charge. Really? Just raise your prices 4% and stop using your menu as a way to complain about the government.

Sorry, we will not be back. In very fine print at the bottom of the menu it states a 4% surcharge will be added to your check due to increasing cost. This is more of a political statement than anything else. If they can reprint the menus to state a surcharge, they can certainly just adjust the prices accordingly.

came in on an early weekday and got seated right away. our server was very attentive and everyone else around us seem to be enjoying their meal or excited for their meal. the s'mores french toast is a must have!! been on a marshmallow craze right now and this satisfies all the cravings.

The wait was very long but the food was amazing and service was excellent. Great coffee and the ginger coffee break was wonderful. Breakfast plates were large & delicious: Steak with chimichurri sauce (I think) and eggs; a scramble of some sort, and cinnamon roll pancakes were all winners. The bacon hash brown wasn't awesome (bacon bits were too small to discern or taste and I prefer my hash browns crispy) and the cheesecake pancakes were meh compared to the cinnamon roll ones. We would definitely go back again (this review is for the Long Beach location.)

This is our favorite breakfast place. We love the variety of breakfast items. We always order a side of Jurassic Bacon - it is killer! The manager even gave me their recipe for it but we would rather have it there. We always get decaffeinated Americanos coffee - very yummy. The service is spot on and very helpful while still being friendly. We love their custom catsup so much we buy a bottle for home.
